Question about 1995 Honda Accord

I have a 1995 honda accord ex sedan with a 2.2L Vtec and its an automatic im currently in the process of turning it into a tuner... i still havent touched the engine and i tried to see if i could get my vtec to kick in and it went all the way to 5500 rpm and still didnt kick in what should i do??

    What is a tuner??? What is a Vtec? Thought that was just an engine name.

Take the V-Tec control solenoid off and the base off the cylinder head then go to the dealership and get the parts that replace the gasket to seal the solenoid and the base module to the engine there is a clogged screen for the oil in there and the gaskets are most likely on the verge of leaking anyway. Cleaning this screen gives the 2.2 v tec all the required oil pressure to fix this problem. Most Honda or Acura dealers have these parts in stock yet, there are several different ones per engine family so I suggest that you take the solenoids and base plates with you to match up visually as i have experienced recently with a tuner, they are not all the same. many dealerships have these in stock because it is a common problem. You will see an immediate difference. Although the Honda accord is somewhat less aggressive with the v tec than say a prelude or an acura is. Due to differences in camshaft and cylinder head and intake designs for each car. Accords are typically a family oriented car whereas the prelude and Acura are more the sporty side of the equation.

Hi i have a 1997 honda acccord lx with a vtec engine i got the check engine light and scanned, recieved dtc code p1259 vtec system failure the symptoms are it driving normal until it reaches 3,500 rpm


If this is a 1997 LX Accord, it did not come with the VTEC, that was only on the EX version in 1997. So someone put an EX VTEC engine in your LX. I've seen this done, and it requires a EX pcm computer. It also needs VTEC wiring to be installed. Check the engine serial # and ID what this engine is from.
If this is actually an EX Accord, then there are more things that can fail than the solenoid. The pressure switch is a common failure.

How to fix VTEC System Malfunction code P1259


It is the wire close to the VTEC valve solenoid plug be cut off. Sounds wired, but it happened to my 2001 accord EX V6 sedan. After I solder it back, the TCS light turned off. But I had to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and put it back to reset the Check Engine light.

I own a 1995 honda accord ex 2.2L vtec, and it won't go into reverse no matter what I do..it seems to be locked out. any ideas of what could have happened, and what I need to replace?


If you are unable to get it out of park and into any other gear including reverse check the brake pedal
switch. The brakes have to be applied on most automatics in order to get the car out of park.
The switch should be attached to the brake pedal
under the dash.

If you are talking about just plugging into the speed sensor yes. A VTEC and NON-VTEC are one and the same.
