Question about 2001 Volvo S60

1 Answer

Oil the fan motor that is making noise

Any suggestions on how to oil the fan motor?  I hope you don't need to remove the entire dash.  Also any way to replace the lights that show the temperature settings for the heater?

The fan wheel is warped and strikes the housing. Replacing the fan wheel, not the entire motor, will solve the problem.

you don`t say what type of noise the motor is making,so here are some things it could be.it could be thinned out motor oil due to not being changed regularly or low on oil,the camshaft could be worn, the valve lifters could be worn out or the rocker arms which will need replacing, the valves may need adjusting(rocker arms too much clearance)the noise could be from the worn pistons or the connecting rod bearings worn causing too much clearance making noise.the noise needs to be diagnoised in order to determine what needs to be done.the wire at the fuse box was it to by pass the fuse panel to get the fan to work correctly.if so it should be properly repaired to avoid a possible fire, which your insurance company probably would not cover as the system was tampered with.

I have a 1994 honda accord lx..heater fan was makin funny noises for a while..then stopped working..started working and stopped again..Is it hard to replace..could it be a fuse..I;m a girl..could I do it...

The heater fan is on the right side floor board under the dash. It is a little tough to do but not extremely hard. If the blower was making noise, it could be something in the heater housing. If it is starting and stopping it is probably the blower motor. When replacing the blower motor you may have to remove the fan from the motor depending on where you buy a new one. The fans (usually made of plastic) break very easy. If you attempt this, be very careful in removing the fan.

Under the dash on the right side you will have to lay on the floor and look up. There may be a lower dash panel to remove. The motor is just below the glovebox. Removed the wire, remove the bolts/screws attaching the blower to the housing. Remove the blower.

The blower motor is on the right side of the dash.remove the lower right kick panel, the motor bolts in with three screws.the resistor is located to the left of the blower.check your connector on the resistor as these like to melt.you will need to install a new pigtail if this has happened.

Fan/motor clicking noise with my Skoda superb 2003, 2.5L

Yeah there is a fuse under the dash board on the driver side. But if you take it out your heater and air conditioner want work. you can remove the dash panel on the passenger side and oil the blow motor and it will not make it noise.

blower motor is located right side of dash behind plenum.remove cover under right side of dash (2-3 screws) then unplug blowermotor, remove screws holding it and bingo blower comes out. may have to pull carpet back a little for more room and to remove blower it easy to do, good luck and hope this is helpful.

Diverter Fan broke affecting air and heat

it is not you fan ticking. there is a big door in your heaterbox that switches from heat to a/c. alot of times the motor that turns this door gets jammed. if the motor is removed and the door turned manually, turning the car on with the motor {flap motor} removed still , turn the heat to cold, wait for the motor to stop turning, then bolt it back onto flap and you should be fine.mercedes is not perfect, sometimes you have to remove the dash to access this flap motor

Yea leafs and other debris can get in and cause the noise. Remove the blower, thoroughly clean the fins and reinstall. This should take care of the noise.
