mazda MPV parking lights will not turn off. Headlights Turn off and on normally.

My headlights, tail lights, and console lights will not turn off. I have a 2007 Kia Optima. I am thinking a possible headlight switch or fuse issue? I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. When I reconnect the batt, all of the lights come right back on again. There is a loud clicking noise each time I turn the lights to the OFF position. I don't hear this noise when I turn it to the ON position. The headlights, parking lights, console lights and tail lights remain on. I usually have to turn keep turning the light switch on/off multiple times until it would finally go off.....about 10-15 "clicks" would normally turn the lights off. Now the lights will not go off at all. Please Help!!

Replace light switch assembly. Remenber some switches pull up to flash headlights and press down to change from low to high--press down again goes from high to low.

Cant say for sure, but you may be laying something on the sensor that turns the lights on, and causing car to think its night time, and turning on lights. The sensor that controls this is on dash ,drivers side near windsheild.

These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse.
Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?

1994 Pontiac Grand am Tailights all work normaly except when the headlights are on and then they don't work at all?

Could be the headlight switch.
The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position.
You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.

Headlights don't work why?

Test the headlight switch as follows.
  • Move your car to a dark area, such as waiting until night or moving to a dark garage, to test your headlight switch.
  • 2Turn on your car, so you can see your dashboard lights. Note whether some of your dashboard lights fail to illuminate.

    • 3
  • Turn on your car's headlights. Note whether your car's headlights illuminate.
  • 4Press the high beam lever to activate your high beams. Note whether your high beams activate.
  • 5Put your car in "Park." Move to the back of the car. Note whether your parking lights are illuminated.
  • 6View any remaining driving lights, such as lights above the license plate. Note whether these lights come on.
If more than one set of lights does not activate when you turn on the lights, you may need to replace your headlight switch. If only one set of lights does not turn on, try replacing the lightbulbs in that set and then retesting your car. If the lights still do not illuminate, you may need to replace your headlight switch.

My head lights won't work. My running lights and dome light work and so does my turning singals.

Probably need to replace your headlight switch, it could be another problem but that is where I would start. The headlight switch is 2 or 3 switches in one, it turns on your parking lights, it turns on your interior lights and dims them too. Either that or it's your bulbs but they say you will never burn both headlights out at the same time. If you have a test light or a volt meter you could check the voltage at the headlight, that would eliminate the switch.

    Jetta headlights not working

Ignition switch will cause you to loose your head lights and turn signals. You will still be able to start the car and hold the switch for your brights but normal function is gone. Check it out it usually only runs about $20-$30 for replacement part but you need a special puller to get to it.
