Battery replacement reset

Hi, thanks ahead of time foro your help. my husbands overseas, and im not a mechanic on this new car, but i love to work on my own truck. Anyway, my battery is gone, the cell is bad. When i replace this, do i need to rest something, or can i just replace it? I tried to just replace the battery on my Expedition, but had all kinds of trouble with transmission until a friend reached underneath and reset it. (theres a tip for anyone with that problem) ....thanks...

Some stereos have a security code request that comes up when you change a battery. I would recommend checking the owners manual for this first. Once you determine that you should be fine. Remember to remove the negative cable first during removal and when installing place positive cable on first. Take the time to clean the terminals while they are off and I recommend the use of a good battery terminal protectant it's sold in aerosol cans for a dollar or two you an clean the terminals with baking soda and water and a small wire brush use hand and EYE PROTECTION. Hope this helps

My coolant fan drained my battery overnight would not shut off so i jumped the car and disconnected the battery do i need a mechanic to fix or is this an easy task for my husband to do?

The sensor that turns on the coolant fan most likely needs to be replaced. It really depends on how mechanically inclined your husband is as weather or not he can fix it. Not everyone is skilled in the same areas.

92-95 honda civic ex 1.6L vtec won't start! New battery, new main relay. Still no start. As you notice the engine would crank but won't start up. Also the dash lights aren't lighting up either....

Did you get the key switch checked out ? The dash indicator lights have to be on for the engine to start. So you are not getting power to the dash lights, and probably not to the computer or ignition coil either.

New battery affecting idle?

Some car computers have to "relearn" after power has been disconnected. Take it out on a backroad away from traffic and drive it for a bit.....stop and go.....drive at different speeds....and see if that helps

First, is the BMW a U.S. model or European model? I would recommend trying to find out what type of programming your mechanic actually did and you might have to go to BMW dealer and look at their wiring diagrams. BMW is very particular about their cars being worked on. You may need the actual BMW computers to help you out. Good luck.

Dear sir i am considering that you have fix both +ve and -ve terminal at Right place, if not then place it proper and some fuse may blown replace that fuse. OR
There is possibility of while replacing the battery you may miss out any wire or connector to place it back with Battery terminal thanks.

My husband is not mechanically savvy. That being

It isn't too difficult just do one at a time. Disconnect from your battery and then disconnect other end where it attaches to engine. There may be brackets along it's length that will have to be removed that secure it make sure to reinstall these on the new cables. I would suggest though before attaching your actual ends to your battery go ahead and replace bothe cables so you don't accidently arc your positive cable anywhere. It's just a safety precaution. Remove your negative battery connection before starting procedure.

If the car was left outside, it is better if you replace engine oil and fill fuel tank to remove condensed water, then replace fuel filter after about 50 Kms
