The coil pack it's self should be numbered Starting left to right across the front it is 2, 4, 6 and across the back left to right it is 1, 3, 5. Emissonwiz (only the OHV, pushrod V6 was avaliable in 99 unless you had the 4 cylinder)

I do not know if you have the 3.1L V6 or the 3.8L (including Super Charger) V6; however I have included both below...

For the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am:
I do not know if you have the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 3.1L V6. However I have included both below. I suspect based on the SE Model you have the 3.1L V6.

For the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder:

1999 grand prix gt 3.8v 6 error codes 300 and 302


The PO300 code is random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Sinsc you have the code PO302, that means that cylinder 2 is the one misfiring, usually a bad coil pack, or spark plug.
