It is possible that the converter is shot, but many things can make the light come on (even a loose gas cap, in which case there is no real problem)

If you are pretty confident there is not some other issue, it will not do harm to drive with that converter for a while (if it is actually bad)

If you disconnect the black cable from the battery for one minute, the light will go out. Be careful when you mess with the battery. If there is an issue the light will come back on soon.

I would suggest checking with dealer as most KIAs have a 100,000 mile warranty and catalytic converter as part of the emissions equipment should be covered.

Serveral weeks ago my service engine light came on so I took my Endeavor to the dealer and they said it was randomly misfiring so I should replace the spark plugs. Since I was at 97,000 miles that seemed...

This code indicates that the catalytic converter is not working well enough. The dealer installed the plugs in hope that maybe the engine would run cleaner and not load the cat so much with new plugs installed. Bottom line, you need a new catalytic converter, but be sitting down when they give you the price. I would see if I could get warranty on this as it is mandatory in some areas.

2006 Civic Hybrid 85K miles with engine light on

Take it to a autozone and have them pull the codes and tell you what is happening, it is most likely a 02 sensor not functioning properly. But have the codes pulled right away, andthey can tell you what it might be then post the codes here then we can tell you if you should wait or not. better safe than sorry. If you drive it and it brakes and you knew the light was on and di not get it checked right away you could void the warrenty.

Check Engine light- catalytic converter

It might be helpfull to know the codes of the "check engine"lite but it seems the PCM is the issue,be sure the O2 sensors were the correct ones and which dealer made the recall? an used-car one or a Chrysler one?if no solution, you should go to a chrysler/jeep dealer and talk to solve this because it is a recall involved and they should repair your SUV at no cost no matter the miles on the odo!.buena suerte!

2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

You have 2 cats B1 & B2 and it sounds as if the right side (B1) is clogged. If that's the case you will need to replace it with a new one from your Nissan Dealer. While your in there you should check the condition of that right exhaust manifold as they are known to crack and if so replace it while your replacing the cat. Hope this helps.
