Question about 2006 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Mode button unresponsive in my 2006 dodge dakota radio.

My factory installed radio is equipped with a mode button to allow you to switch between the radio and an auxiliary piece of equipment like an I Pod or MP3 player. It has an AUX sub mini or mini jack installed. In trying to reset the time I pushed this mode button and it disabled the radio and now displays "AUX". By pushing the mode button again nothing changes. It seems like it's stuck. How do I get it back in the radio mode? Is there something I'm missing?

After sitting all day in the parking lot at work, I started the truck to go home and everything seemed back to normal. There must be some sort of time related reset. I have not tried pushing the MODE button again and probably won't until I need to.

My 1997 dodge dakota truck had a starter replaced and now the radio will not come on System comes on in cassette mode and will not switch to FM/AM mode

The battery was probably disconnected to change the starter, Perhaps the radio is in a lock mode and needs a unlock code Chevk your owners manual

My radio came on by itself with no key in ignition, and then my wipers came on also with no key in switch, on a 1996 dodge dakota, then now the battery goes dead

You have a short somewhere that is still supplying power throughout the system. It would be hard to troubleshoot without proper equipment and know how.

@fhave a dodge dokota 1997 security system that will not allow the truck to start. does not have the chip in the key. this model was not equipped with the chip. Everything I can think of has been done to...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Give this method a try. (NOTE you must have your radios' security code or your radio will go into the safe mode)
You need 2 people for this.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
One person sits inside the vehicle holding the valet switch under the dash with the door OPEN.
2nd person re-connects the battery.
Try starting.

If it still does not work:

Key ON.
Disconnect battery 2 mins pause.
Reconnect battery while other person holds valet switch depressed with the drivers door OPEN and the key is still ON.
Try a start..... no luck yet... press and hold valet switch and attempt a start.

If none of the above work just don't rate the post so that another expert can help you. Rating the post will close it out and your question will fade into the archives.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
