Hi ,there is a posibility that your timing chain have gone bad, that could be the reason for no spark even if you have power to the coil, You can check it by taking the distributor cap of and turn the balancing pulley with a ratchet back and faward,The rotor must move inmediatly every time you move the ratchet ,if not ,there is to much play in the timing chain.....

Engine died while driving, no spark, replaced coil, now starts, idles, runs well at low rpm, but misfires when accelerating. No check engine costs thrown. What should I check next.

Change your ignition module. The distributor is a weak point of the Honda, I will always change out the whole thing than just try the coil.

1995 Nissan pickup turns over but will not start.Removed the coil wire from the dist. cap and held it close to ground with no spark while cranking the engine.

then that reduces the possibilities to: bad coil ignition module malfunction distributor failure distributor cap and rotor

Car started and ran fine, quit while driving and now there is no spark and turns over.

Hello first of all

In reading your issue at hand not having no spark there is only a few things that can cause this being that its a 1988 car i will list below what you need to go over and check.

1.spark plug wires
2. distributor cap
3. ignition rotor
4. coil pick up
5. faulty distributor

That being said most are a easy and cheap fix plug wires run about 20-35 bucks autozones duralast brand , distributor cap runs between 7-18 bucks , ignition rotor 3-8 bucks , coil pick up about 15-30 bucks all at autozone.

Now there is no real way to tell if there bad but a good examination of the distributor cap and rotor should tell you corroded inside cracked worn down.

i would start with distributor cap , ignition rotor, coil pick up if the car starts after this replace spark plugs wires. If that does not fix it most likely you distributor is faulty itself.

i hope it helps if so could you leave me so 4 thumbs up feedback thanks so much

I have a Mazda astina 323 94 model it cranks but won't start doesn't seem to be any spark from the leads I have recently changed the leads , Im guessing it's the coil and distributor cap please help

1 remove the cable from the coil to the distributor.
check this agains earth, when you turn the engine over.

if spark, suspect rotor arm is not setting spark to each spark plug lead.
open distributor and clean the rotor arm with a cloth or wire wool
not sand paper as this will take off too much and cause a problem

2 check inside distributor for moisture. spray inside with WD40 or equiventy water repelent.

3 if not spark at coil open distriutor cap and with ignition on, open and close points in distributor with a screw driver and check coil again against earth again if you get sparh, problem is points not opening and closing.

4 turn over engine with distributor cover removed to see if rotor arm is moving if not then cam drive to distributor is defective. this controls points and rotor arm.

if rotor arm turning and spark at points but no spark at coil suspect Low tension wiring or coil needs replacement.

i hope this was helpful

It stalled and won't start. It has gas, the battery is fine, I changed the spark plugs. I did get it to start rolling it but it soon died again. When it was running in sounding like it was arcing.

most common problem : igniter , distributor cap and rotor.
Open distributor cap , look inside.
probably cheaper to replace distributor assy. , as it comes complit unit with coil , igniter , hall sensor , cap and rotor.

1990 Isuzu 2.6 L 5 spd. No start.. Fuel pressure is ok, not getting spark. Checked coil, ignition module, distributor, computer and coil wire. No power coming from the coil. Small voltage going into...

assuming you the coil, plugs, cap, rotor and wires are good. check the cam sensor, If you have 12 volts to the coil using a 12v light tester. The cam sensor responsible for sending info to the computer telling it that the cam is turning, then the computer tell the coil to dispurse the charge/sparks to the distributor as distributor distribute the sparks to each plugs from the rotor of the distributor. Replace the cam sensor, it tend to go bad over period of time.

My 95 Mercury Sable won't start I am getting spark from the ignition coil but none from the distributor I replaced the ignition module not sure what to do next

remove distributor cap, check for moisture or poor condition of 'contacts' on rotor & inside cap.check for a clean connection at coil to distributor lead, check spark plug wires.

Im not getting spark to my spark plugs

Remove the distributor cap, so that the rotor is visible. Have an assistant turn the ignition to crank the engine over. If the rotor does not turn when the engine is cranking, then you need a timing belt or chain.

If the rotor does turn, then replace the coil.
