i am having the same problem with my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition. On mine, it sounds like the fuel pump is not turning on... We were told to check the coil pk and see if it was getting fire. we did and it is not getting fire, so we are going to try that. if that does not work someone said to change the computer because the coil not getting fire and the fuel pump not turning on could both be the computer not sending the signal to do so. Hopefully one of these will work for the both of us... Good luck!

well yesterday we put a new coil pk on my jeep and it did not fix it. We went ahead and took off the computer so we can take it and find a used match...because a new one is around $ 350.00 I really hope this fixes it.

1997 laredo 4.0 (inline 6). In the morning car would start after several cranks and other times, on the first crank. Took it to the dealer and $3000 LATER PROBLEM IS STILL THERE, YES $3000.Now the dealer went bankrupt,I left it at a Dodge dealership for a week now. They cannot find the problem as of right now any suggestions what to look for.

spark to all 6 cylinders'
compression good is first. all 6
then spark x6, if PCM sees no spark? it CUTS fuel by DESIGN. (logic)
the fuel.
if you have spark, the test fuel works, "spray"

ever get a full tuneup this decade or every 60k miles.
no? well , now is the time, huh?
spark good to all cylinders, NOT just one, pretend its 6 engines. dig?

Can i use a transmition from 1998 grand cherokee laredo 4wd to a jeep laredo 1998 4.0 4wd. will work same trnsmition?

Hi Jose, I've never tried but if you go visit a breakers yard and compare the physical dimensions of both boxes and they match up, there is no reason why they should not. Most manufactures use the same units in a variety of models and if you've found a similar vehicle with identical uses the parts are most likely interchangeable. Regards John

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered

I have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee laredo. It will turn over fine but will not start.. its not getting fire and the coil is fine.. Its also not getting fuel but i ran a wire to the fuel pump and it is also...

if your not getting spark or fuel to the engine and the ignition coil and fuel pump are good i would suspect it to be an anti-theft, or security issue. are you using a key you had just got cut??

Back up a minute...Do you have spark from the coil wire? (juice from coil) If so, change or check rotor and cap (wires do not all go bad at same time so unless they are wet, likely at least good enough to start engine)
