Well, I have had the exact same problem with my 1996 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5 liter. The car runs fine and just dies, sometimes it takes 30 minutes to start back up other times takes a hour. Now I finally got it started after it broke down at a Wal Mart I finally got it home and now it just turns over but will not start. I just changed the crankshaft sensor. The Cam shaft sensor, and the ignition coil. I cleaned the Map sensor which looked dirty with some electrical cleaner, and changed the spark plugs. It will still not start. Oh yeah a brand new battery i did not need either, I bought. I heard it had sometime to do with the theft system in the car. But that recall makes sense, and if there is any other solutions for this fix let me know. I hate playing trial and errror games with money I don't have to blow. Also I have fuel pressure . The fuel pump turns on. The weird part is after I changed the ignition coil when the car would start and die problem, I actually got a cheack engine light and the codes were P0351, P0353, basically saying the ignition coil wasnt getting enough spark. I did a freeze frame on the car with my tool, and the fuel bank 1 AND 2 read 0.00 basically saying there was no fuel maybe getting through to the engine. I dont know these cars are a pain in the *** and if anyone can help with the best solution please..

Your exhaust system may be plugged, check your catalytic converter or muffler. At higher speeds exhaust gasses build up and prevent proper operation and will stall the vehicle until the built up pressure manages to escape enough to facilitate re-starting until once again youre shut down.
Your P.C.M. Power Train control Module (Brain) may also be the culprit as was the case with my 95 intrepid. After replacement of the module all system operations resumed as properly should. Theres two things that may well solve your problem. I hope so, good luck.
You might dare to disconnect your exhaust system above the converter (engine side) and drive your vehicle as usual, if its not too loud, preferably do this test drive outside city limits and see if your problem is resolved. If all seems well then the problem does indeed lie in your exhaust not flowing freely as it should.

My car does the same thing and I just pump the gas like a carbureted vehicle and get it to start, but what the problem actually is, is a factory recall put out in AUG 98. The seals on the fuel lines up on the top of the motor wear out and when the engine is hot they expand and then leak fuel when the engine starts to cool off, you don't get the correct fuel pressure to the injectors, and you have to flood it to get it to start or let it sit longer. Just go down to your local Dodge dealership and they will fix it for free, I'm getting mine done Monday, my car is a 95 with 166k, and it won't cost me anything. Google recalls on 96 dodge intrepids with the 3.5 L if you don't believe me.

Probably need to change the Crank Position and Cam Position Sensors Very Common problems with the 3.3 and 3.5 Intrepids

The Cam Position Sensor is Located on the right front of the engine(Toward the drivers side) and the Crank Position Sensor is bolted between the Transmission Bell Housing and the Motor on the right side rear of the motor. Either one is simple to change all you will need would be a 10mm socket and extension

You can buy these at Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts or just about any auto parts store for approx $20 each depending on where you live and the competition of auto parts stores. I have them sell for up to $40-50 each

    Go to http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,0290...

    and

    http://www.autozone.com/N,15900158/shopp...

    Shows about $36/each

But, don't worry they are relatively simple to change and your problems should be done

2000 dodge intrepid wont stay running

Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.

Car runs perfect then starts missing real bad then stalls

Not unusual for fuel pumps to begin to fail once they are heated up from running. First thing in the morning pump is cool, then as you drive, it heats up and begins to lose pressure. After sitting a 1/2hr-1hr, it may start again and run fine for a short time and start to act up again. Had similar problem and found good fuel pressure when tank and pump cool, but lost pressure once vehicle driven a distance and pump heated up. The hotter the weather, the shorter the distance I could drive. If you can somehow set it up to have fuel pressure checked when it starts to act up, that would certainly help confirm if fuel pressure is the culprit.

well you narrowed it down to a fuel problem. not sure about your model, but most cars have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail to reduce un needed pressures. that could possibly be bad. its cylinder in shape and has a vacuum hose connected to it. check the hose and that unit.

1996 dodge avenger oesnt start after warms up

Go get the battery and alternator tested for free at the auto parts store.  For some reason the alternator isn't charging the battery while your driving.

I can drive my 1999 dodge intrepid for a while and cant start it

Many vehicles turn on the electric cooling fan if the temperature is high under the hood which prevents hard starting of a hot engine.
If yours never has had the fan run for a minute or two, then it isn't supposed to but if it did it once but now doesn't, the thermal switch that should turn it on has failed.
Try holding the gas pedal to the floor before turning the key; if it starts, then there was too much gasoline in the cylinders causing wet plugs which don't want to fire.
