Radio error message

Greetings, I am in the process of buying a used 2005 Honda CR-V. The radio has an ERROR E message. The dealer claims not to know what it means. Can someone tell me what it is? I want to check on if this dealer is not giving me the truth.
thanks

My battery died and the error code came up on the radio ... if you try to enter the wrong code 5 times (and I did through frustration), it freezes and gives an errE code. Is this fixable without taking the car back to the dealership? I have a 2003 cr-v

There should be a card that comes with the manual .. hopefully , it has the code on it. its usually something simple.
your dealer should know what that means and how to solve it if they are a honda dealer. you may want to call honda corporate and get the code number , contact a local dealer if your not buying your car from one and ask how to get the code for your cars VIN number.

Does the radio work ok? also make sure the dealer supplies you with the anti-theft code in case the battery ever goes dead you will need it to re-activate the radio. Make them fix it, radio's are very expensive to repair these days, $100's in most cases

If it has a CD player it means it is jammmed have the dealer correct the issue first and make sure you have the radio code for future battery changes or battery disconnects its available only with the dealer and proof of ownership

I would contact the dealer to see if you can get the security code for it. The radio thinks it is stolen.

How to reset the radio code of my 2007 Honda CR-V?

You have the wrong code. Hold preset buttons #1 & #6 down, turn on radio. Keep holding down buttons, record 1st 4, then 2nd 4, of radio serial number. Either register your car on-line with Honda to get the code or go to a Honda dealer.

THE 2009 HONDA PILOR KEY FOB USES CR1818 BATTERY. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A REPALCEMENT BATTERY. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF AN EQUIVALENT? I HAVE SEARCH THE INTERNET WITH NO SUCCESS.

I had same issue for my 2005 Honda Accord Key FOB. Could not find CR 1818 as suggested. I read somewhere to try the CR 1616. I took a chance after spending $6.00 at my local radio shack. TO my surprise it was an exact fit. Ebay has them for about $2.91. Gonna buy some more as I have 4 Honda vehicle. Suppose to last 7-10 years before replacement. Won't be caught dead again.

I could not operate the radio and the cd changer since i bought the car. when i press any button it will show 'error' and the car has no manual...please how do I get the code?. the chasis number is...

The battery must have gone dead or have been replaced before you bought the car.
Your car’s audio system will disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason. To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code in the Preset buttons. Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from five digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.
You should have received a card with your manual (if you got one with the car) that lists your audio system’s code number and serial number. If you don't have the card, you can get the code number from your Honda dealer, but to do this, you will need the system’s serial number.
If your car’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens, you will see ‘‘Code’’ in the frequency display the next time you turn on the system. Use the Preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. If it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.
Hope this is helpful. I know it's a troublesome process of you are out of the country.

How can I get my CR-V radio serial # without having to remove it? Dealer is gonna charge me $90.

Sometimes Honda places a sticker in the glove box that has a 5-digit number on it, that would be your radio code. Otherwise, you can sometimes open the glovebox, or the ashtray and peek through to see the serial # on the bottom of the radio. I know that for sure on the newer Accords.

2005 Honda CR-V won't go to XM radio.

"XM Ready" means that you have to have a satelite radio installed in order to have XM service. I went through this when buying my 2005 CR-V and thought that all I needed was to set up the service. If you have an XM receiver installed you can controll it on your Honda factory radio. It is very misleading.

I need code for my 2005 honda accord radio

Check owners manual, made written on inside of covers or on radio pages.  IF not check inside of glovebox for four digit code.  If not luck, remove radio document all number, ie serial number on unit and call local honda dealer.  They must run the VIN and radio info back to the motherland to get lock code.

Error 7 on 2005 Honda CRV Radio

I had the same issue with the radio code error lock on a 2005 CRV. I was unaware of the code procedure and had locked the radio in the "ERROR E" mode. I was able to unlock the radio by pulling the #9 back up fuse located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. This reset the radio to CODE which then allowed me to input the 5 digit number which I had in my glove box along with my owner's manual. I am happy to report I now have a working radio/ CD player.

Cr-v radio problem gets worse

i can answer your last question.

it would need a honda radio with a steering control capability. look at the socket and if it would fit, there is a big chance it would work. but if it wont fit, then it wont work. if you use other radio even honda radio but it does not have the steering control capability, then still it would not work.

tnx 4 using fixya,
