The brake light combined with the battery light tells me that your alternator is not sufficiently charging the battery. These 2 lights illuminate in tandem when the voltage regulator is not seeing over 12.5 volts. You are going to probably have to replace the alternator, or get it checked & overhauled at an alternator shop.

We have a Nissan maxima 1998, we have had mechanics fix out tail and brake lights 4 times...still a month later with the same issue. The lights stay on,and only the middle brake works when you press it...

Check the earth wire from the body to the battery or to the motor to the battery. It appears that an earth is not working so the current is seeking a return through other lights hence they stop working.

Cant get my 1993 nissan altima out of park

is your battery dead? turn your headlights on. do they work? if not, then the battery is dead. your car will not come out of park unless the brake lights come on. if the batterys dead, the brake lights will not come on. try a boost from another car. another solution, brake light fuse is blown.look under the dash or on driverside dash panel for fuse panel. look for a brake kight fuse that's blown. have you tryed applying the brake pedal with car off to see if the brake lights come on?hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

2004 Chevy Silverado had dead battery after 5 days...

I had the exact same problem! On the third battery and the third time in our local Chevrolet Garage...they told me they couldn’t find any problems. My response was, “this vehicle isn’t dependable and it’s staying here until you fix it.” Well what do you know about a week later and a $100 deductable on my GMPP warranty they found the problem. It was an accumulation of three issues but mainly one.
1. The LoJack system that a different Chevrolet Dealership installed was drawing a constant 20mA when the vehicle was off. Within LoJack specs. Normal.
2. The Prodigy trailer brake controller was drawing 15mA. Within specs. Normal.
3. And the MAIN CAUSE of the whole problem was the HVAC controller never turned off. It was continually drawing 35mA until they pulled the fuse. They had to order another HVAC controller which would have cost $287 and a weeks’ worth of shop hours to investigate the problem. Thank GOD they only charged me the deductible on my warranty.

Driving my 1999 cabrio ,then all of a sudden brake light on the dash come on then 2 minutes later the car shuts off,try to start but no sound.check battery, ignition switch and starter component everything...

You deftly have a electrical problem must likely is at the fuse relay box Check all wires going to the fuse/relay boxes look for lose burned or cut wires and check all fuses specially the big ones if you have a burn fuse check the corresponding wires of that fuse because you may have a short cut some where if you cant find then I recommend getting a repair manual from your local auto part store or go to www.alldatadiy.com
