Question about BMW 328

I have an automatic car when i place it into drive, i have to wait a 8-9 seconds before it moves ???

Transmission gear it`s skidding so you need to take trans down and check it out

I believe most car driving experts would tell you that there is no real benefit from placing the car in neutral while waiting at a stop light.
For me, the biggest draw back is that you might encounter a situation where you need to MOVE!!! With all the distracted drivers today (texting and such), you might look in your rearview mirror and see someone coming right at you who will not be able to stop in time. If your car is sitting in neutral, stepping on the gas will not move you out of the way in time.

Check oil trasmission

If your car has an automatic transmission ( no clutch pedal) ;
Block wheels and engage parking brake. Open hood and look towards the rear of the engine next to the firewall for a "T" handle (usually colored blue, yellow, red, etc.)This is the Transmission fluid dipstick.Start engine and let it warm up, then move gear selector in the following pattern; Reverse, wait 10 seconds, drive, wait 10 seconds, neutral. remove dipstick and wipe off, then look for the markings on one of the sides. It should have an add line with cross hatchings above up to the full line. Re-install stick SLOWLY, making sure it is fully seated, and wait 10 seconds, then remove and check. Depending on the vehicle dictates how many quarts the transmission holds.
Follow above procedure for safety, then jack up vehicle at the midway point and install a jack stand. Look along Transmission body for a plug (usually a 1/2 or 3/8 inch drive ratchet square hole). remove plug and place your finger inside. If the oil is below the hole by at least 1/8 inch then pump new gear oil in until it begins to flow back out and replace plug quickly. The weight of the needed gear oil should be in your vehicle manual - or call your local parts store for the proper weight.

03 volkswagen jetta automatic 2.0 was parked for about a week. The car started up fine and about 15 seconds later started to shake. The engine light came on followed by the battery light. I waited to see...

Best to get the code read. Buy a VAG code reader... you'll need it for this car, I'm afraid, but it will pay for itself on it's first use. You may have bad coil or coils.

My automatic transmission car takes 8 seconds to move from Park to Drive. It runs on diesel. Transmission fluid level is good

It sounds like it is loosing "prime" on the front pump unit. This can be due to excessive clearances in the pump or bad check valves or check ball springs. It usually results in front pump replacement.

1992 dakota 318 v-8 automatic stalls when placed into drive,it will move forward when you start to roll down hill. but engine dies when you stop; but truck run fine in reverse

Maybe the IAC is bad and can't control the idle. I know many have that problem but only effects D and not N or R. If your NSS (neutral safety switch) connects the ECU it could give false reading and ECU kills motor but unsure about that truck. Many cars it only allows the starter solenoid.

If this is actually the gearshift not wanting to move from park the problem is either in the brakelamp circuit or the solenoid that locks the shifter in place. All cars now have to have the brake pedal depressed before you can move the shifter from park. There is a lock solenoid at the shifter that is operate by the brake lamp switch which is more than likely the problem.

locate you automatic belt tensioner. It will be an alluminium case housing a spring that attatches to a swing arm whitch attatches to a pully. there should be a smell 3/8 size square recessed into the swing arm. place a 3/8 drive ratchet into the recessed square and apply clockwise pressure and the arm will move allowing removal of the belt. How do i reset my kilometer gauge after changing oil or does it reset to 0 automaticly

Resetting Oil Service Light on your 2002 - 2006 MINI Cooper and Cooper S, and 2007 - 2008 MINI Convertibles:

1) Press and hold the trip button
2) Insert key and turn to position 1
3) Watch for RESET to appear
4) Release the button, then press & hold it again
5) Wait for the RESET to flash
6) Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
7) Service interval should then be reset to next interval
If that didn't work, try this:
1. Push the Trip Button
2. Turn ignition key to position 1 and 51A will appear to left of mileage
3. Release trip button
4. Wait 3 seconds
5. Push trip button
6. Wait (5-8 seconds) for RST to appear in left corner
7. Release trip button
8. Push trip button
9. 15000 will appear as new service interval
10. Release trip button

Or this:
1. Press and hold the trip odometer button.
2. Insert car key and turn it to the fi rst position (not the second position).
3. You will see 51A come up in the trip odometer area.
4. Release, then press and hold again.
5. Watch for the word “RST” to appear on the Odometer indicator.
6. Release, then press and hold again.
7. Wait for the “RST” message to fl ash.
8. Release, and then press & release (once only).

Stops while driving

this is usually due to a dirty throttle body. just beware if you do try to clean it you will need to preform the idle relearn procedure. this does work, ive done it personally.

A. Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure.
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds (how would you know if you get it right?)

B. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound (i never get this right because i never heard anything)

C. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It's best to time with a watch/clock.

1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops
blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11 Wait 20 seconds
12Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications. (this is fine because SES light lets you know if you did it right the way it blinks)
