How do I fix or the dealership fix a gas smell?

There is a gas smell coming from the AC/Heater. I have sent the car to the dealership, and they can't seem to find the problem, yet they will admit, there is a problem. This is a wonderful car, no other major problems. There is not a gas leak.

There is a smell a gas through out the car, yet there is no leak. Apparently, dodge cars in the past had this problem, yet the dealership can not find the problem. My car has been in there shop of a week already. I am just seeking way to help them, find and fix the problem with my car.

No, the fumes are not coming from the exhaust. Maybe, the engine that could be the reason why it is coming form the AC/Heater. Please be mindful, this situation occurs only when the car is cold. I failed to mention that earlier. I do appreciate all suggestion with solving this problem. Thanks

They exhaust will have a strong smell when the engine cold, that is normal and I suspect the dealer told you that, if there was a problem the check engine light would be on, the smell is the catalytic converters, until they reach operating temp they are very smelly, that temp is about 900-1000 degrees F

Is it actual raw gas smell, or gas fumes maybe from exhaust you are smelling?

I have a 2012 Sonata Hybrid. I purchased the vehicle brand new in June of 2012 after a few months of owning it I started to smell gas in the inside of the car. It would take a little while for it to start but after the car was warmed up it was pretty intense. I brought it to the dealership and they had it for two days and could not find a problem. I asked what they looked at and was told they checked all hoses sensors and fuel injectors. The next day while driving I smelled the gas right away and brought it back to the dealer and spoke with the service manager who said he knew of this issue and fixed it on another hybrid a few months before. He told me he was going to contact the engineer to see if he knew of the issue and asked me to leave my car with him for a few days. I got my car back 4 days later and was told the engineer was involved with the solution. They ended up replacing my fuel tank, air intake, fuel injectors, all hoses, spark plugs and connectors. I have had my car back for a few weeks and have had no issues, hope this helps anyone else with this issue.

Help!! Bad Smell coming from AC/Heater will driving but when idle no smell from under the hood.

Sounds like the volatile fluid gas that is used in the refrigeration of the ac unit has leaked or it needs resealing and regassing.most garages with ac repairs techs will know this. Its about £75 in uk money to regas such a unit.did the air conditioning unit not work as well during preceding weeks is a sure telltale sign it needs regassing.good luck.

Why when I start my car is there an odor coming from vents that smells like something is burning, and my Air Conditioner still blows, but it only blows out hot air. 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Help?

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

Can you tell me why my truck smells antifreezy when I started

Is the heater or ac fan on....? Where is the smell coming from?

my thought are if smell coming from exhaust, you have a head gasket problem.

If smell coming from AC or heater, likely a heater core leaking!

Smell and white smoke coming thur ac vents

Your heater core has developed a leak (of coolant). The smell is the "sweet" smell of ethylene glycol,
a component of engine coolant. The white smoke is steam coming from the heated coolant evaporating.
The coolant is dripping into your duct work under the dashboard, and apparently being evaporated
out of the ductwork and sent into the passenger compartment, meaning its a small leak.
When the leak gets worse, you may get wet carpet on the front passenger side.

Bad smell after replacing heater and evaporator

It sounds like your A/C drain is blocked and mildew is building up this is a common occuance during the summer. Most Dealerships have a chenical that you spray into your heater case that will remove this oder.

Bad heater core. What is happening is when you turn on the air you are getting fumes from the heat of the engine and the heater core leaking causing you to get a smell and also fumes. I would suggest that you take it to the dealership or a mechanic and have the problem fixed ASAP due to the health issue

99 dodge dakota has gas smell in cab when heater or ac is on

sounds like you need to look through the engine bay and see if your fuel lines are wet anywhere!! There might be a possibilty that you have a leak around the gas tank so jus crawl under the trunk and look to see if it has any kind of wetness around the tank or hoses coming out of the tank!!

Leaking heater core coolent smell through the a/c

The same thing happened to my '99. I found an 'off' brand heater core locally then seached the internet to find direction on how to install. I don't remember the link, but someone had posted pictures of the step by step. Although I must say the sticking point for me was removing the screw holding the heater core to the pipes coming from the front of the car then removing the core holder.
It took me a couple of hours, not really knowing what I was doing, but went real smooth. It's fixed for around $140! And NO MORE ANTIFREEZE SMELL!!
