You need to take the upper and lower steering column covers off, should be 3 screws in bottom, take tilt steering lever out if neccessary, it is a 2 peice cover, take apart, change switch and put back together

Trying to replace turn signals in 78 monte Carlo w/ tilt wheel.got sreering wheel off and down to the metal cover just over the turn signals but no screws to remove????

you need a compression tool to press down the metal plate... after you press it down a few millimeters, it will expose a snap ring in the steering shaft... you will need some kind of pick to remove the snap ring.... after you remove the metal lock plate, you will see screws recessed in the plastic... you have to turn the turn signals both directions to access all the screws
