There is an sensor at each wheel for abs, since the morons drove it w/ a flat tire, most likely the sensor was damaged, and needs replacement, that would explain the abs light being on, and repair of it would turn off the light. Where is the grinding sound coming from? Check the brake pads/shoes for wear, a grinding noise could be worn brake pads that need to be replaced. Starting up w/ the grinding noise could indicate a brake caliper not releasing (dragging) right away, which would cause premature failure of the brake pads on that wheel. Let me know what u find, and good luck!

I would not ignore this problem. Some damage has been caused to your braking system, i doubt if is is as simple as resetting the abs sensor. You should have the wheels removed and the suspension and braking systems fully checked over either by yourself or a competent mechanic .as the grinding sound could be a symptom of a serious safety hazard.

Driving on a flat could have buckled the rim or damaged the discs, steering or suspension.

ABS light is constantly on this happened after I went through some snow I had also the (((!))) sign flashing, but now it is gone Golf 4, 1.4 16V 1999 Please advise. Thank you so much

that sign is your traction controll kicking in trying to keep the car under controll by applying the brakes to the tire that is spinning it can engage the ABS too your ABS controller is more than likely damaged and needs replaced it is a common problem with VW ABS systems.

1997 VW Golf GTI 2 Litre. The ABS light comes on

Hello, My 2000 2.0 Golf just recently had the same problem. I would feel the ABS pump working at certain times through the accelerator pedal. I found the right rear sensor failed the Bentley manual continuity test . After removing it I found it was pretty rusted. The sensor head is located inside the rear brake disc hub area and this probably explained this rust. The rust probably worked its way into the sensor body where you can't clean it and thus the resistance value went above specification. I ordered mine through Autohaus and cost me just over $50.00 for both rear sensors. Even though my drivers side was good I replaced it at the same time. The ABS light hasn't been on for 4 days now..

If the ESP light on the touran stayys on pernamently then it is extremely likely that the ABS control unit is faulty. Its a common problem with tourans, unfortunately the part alone is about £1000.
