Question about 1997 GMC Sonoma

1 Answer

Head lights won't stay on

When the head lights are turned on, they only stay on for a moment and go directly to day time running lights. I took the switch apart and cleaned it, but didn't help the problem. Could the relay be failing if there is one? To my knowlege there is not a sensor.

Are the head lights on all the time 1999 chevy silverado 1500 4x4

On a 99 chevy silverado if equipped with auto headlamps there is a sensor on the dash near the front center of dash a small black bubble. If it is covered it will cause the lights to stay on. The day time running lights are typically seperate from the head lamps

Why won't my miss fire?

Fuel injectors may be dirty.. or plugged. The car just sitting there may have caused the gas to go bad which may have given them a head start on plugging from the get go. Get some cleaner for it.
When the dash lights blink, is it unlike anything you've seen it do before?

I want to be able to turn off headlights. There is no off position on switch and I took out photo cell light sensor but the lights stay on when truck is running.

[hi

this may be there is a short circuiting on the switch which might have by passed the switch so the light is always on. this may be in two locations one in
1.the switch itself and other may in the passage of the wire to the swithc.so try changing the switch and check the problem stil presists,

2.if the problem presists then there is problem with the wire connecting to the switch. so you hav eto trace full wire connection from the battery to the switch.

Do the headlights stay on always even during daylight driving on a 2008 Saturn Vue

YEP ALL TODAY CARS COME FROM THE FACTORY WITH DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS WHICH STAY ON WHILE YOU DRIVING.IF LIGHTS STAY ON WITH ENGINE OFF YOU HAVE A FAULTY DRL RELAY OR DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS RELAY.YOU COULD HAVE TURN ON HEAD LIGHTS MANUALLY FROM THE SWITCH.WHICH WILL CAUSE HEAD LIGHTS TO STAY ON.

Occasionally Battery light goes on momentarily

could be a defective alternator, but the mechanic will need to check it while the light is on. I know that sound like BS but if he checks it while the light is off, of course its going to check good.

HID LIGHTS

You have to bypass the Daytime Running Light (DRL) feature. If you are good with soldering and know how to work with resistors and capacitors, you can EASILY fabricate your own bypass. Check out:

This is a forum that I actively moderate. I have tried option 3 which allows you to turn off your headlights completely and it works perfectly. Definitely the best option.
