car worked perfect before i changed leaking tank.is it possible a ground wire is broken?

×

1 Answer

Ground for fuel pump relay is on the right side of fuse panel last small green relay on right ,two larger spade and two smaller ones check for feed on the smaller terminals and try earthing the other one.but if you have this problem them the chances are the immobliser has cut in.If no spark as well then its dealer only to resolve the problem as the ecu needs re-calibrating.normally the starter will not work either but its possible someone has rewired this at some time.

Where is the fuel pump relay and how can e serviced?

Description

*: ECM determines the start signal status by the signals of engine speed and battery voltage.
The ECM activates the fuel pump for several seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON to improve engine start ability. If the ECM receives a engine speed signal from the camshaft position sensor (PHASE), it knows that the engine is rotating, and causes the pump to operate. If the engine speed signal is not received when the ignition switch is ON, the engine stalls. The ECM stops pump operation and prevents battery discharging, thereby improving safety. The ECM does not directly drive the fuel pump. It controls the ON/OFF fuel pump relay, which in turn controls the fuel pump.

Bad ground. It runs to the front of the car. You can cut it and ground it to the body. Make sure the battery to body ground is good also.

Without a voltmeter and a wiring diagram, you're in a bit of a fix. But I would be wondering why the ignition switch isn't sending power to the coil primary positive terminal, and why it isn't causing the fuel pump to be turned on, too.
Is your check engine light on with key on? The computer should sense ignition is on and briefly turn on the fuel pump through the fuel pump relay, on just long enough to pressurize the fuel line to the injector. But no fuel or fire-you'd better start by checking if the ignition switch has power in and power out, and work your way to the coil.

94 chevy 1500 4.3 no spark no fuel

Sounds like you replaced alot of parts for nothing.
The pickup coil in the distributor "fires" the module which grounds the coil and the injectors.
Those components would need to be tested. The coil fires the plugs when the ground is removed by the module or the key switch.

I replace the fuel pump on my 1992 ford bronco and still doesnt supply fuel is there a relay i dont know of

Are you getting battery power and ground at the fuel pump connector? (This should have been checked BEFORE replacing the pump)

Other things to check:
1. Fuel Pump relay in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block
2. The relay is powered (Secondary -or- "fuel pump side") by Fuse 0 in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block.
3. The relay Primary -or- "control" side is powered by Pin 37 RED wire at the PCM
4. The relay Primary control (or ground circuit) is operated by Pin 22 LIGHT BLUE/ORANGE wire at the PCM
5. The Inertia Fuel Shut-off Switch located between the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump may need to be reset. The switch is located behind the right kick panel. The DARK GREEN/YELLOW wire at the switch is the feed from the fuel pump relay. The other wire goes to the fuel pump. Some units have the DARK GREEN/YELLOW wire going in and the wire going out can also be DARK GREEN/YELLOW, or PINK, or ORANGE - the wiring diagram for your vehicle does not specify the color of the wire that actually goes to the fuel pump itself.)
6. If none of the above produce any results, make sure that your ground wire at the fuel pump has good continuity to ground. It usually screws to the left frame rail near the fuel tank.

Any of these components (including the PCM) or their connecting wires could be the cause of your problem.

Where would i find the fuel pump in a ford tempo (1989)

The fuel pump in this car is located inside the fuel tank, the tank must be removed to replace/service the pump, about a 3 hour job on the ground, make sure the battery is disconnected before u start work, there is a large fire hazard here as u might guess. Be Careful!
