Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD

Truck heater is stuck ON

Hot air is constantly blowing into the passenger compartment no matter what position the cold/hot air control dial is in. The cable less control head has three control dials: fan setting (working), cold/hot controller (not working), and system controller (working). The A/C works just fine, but the cold air just mixes with the hot air which produces a blended air of limited heat or cold. Note: I used to hear a door or baffle slam shut sometimes, but don't hear that any more. Also, I have manually opened the heater line bi-pass valve, but heat is still poring out of the vents. Could the bi-pass valve failed internally? Or is it temperature blend door not functioning or something else? Thanks in advance for your help, Rick

There is a blend door motor on top of the housing. If you open the glove box, and look to the top of the housing near the left rear of the glove box, you should see the blend door motor. You can check it at this point. Also check the housing, as I have seen a number of these with a damaged or broken housing.

It just blows cold air. no hot air

First, make sure your coolant level is full. After spending some time looking around you probably have a shut off valve in the engine compartment. See if you can locate 2 black(sometimes red) heater hoses, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter, coming from the firewall on the passenger side. The heater control valve is located inline with the hoses. It turns on and off the flow of hot water through the heater core which radiates heat in your passenger compartment. Check with your parts house to verify this by looking up the control valve.

I have a 2002 grand cherokee I put freeion in the thing and it stills blow hot air. You have to take a stick and push the clutch in then the compressor runs .but still blows hot air out.The gauge says it...

Do this:
When the vehicle is COLD, start it and start the a/c and see if it is cold then. If so, your heater temperature controller is stuck in the HOT position. Check the hoses going from it and if this is true, replace the controller. The a/c is running, but the controller is sending hot water to the passenger compartment heater radiator.

The heater is blowing constant hot air even if you put the temp control on cold. Is this the heater blendor motor and where is it located?

it's an air door actuator and located at top right hand side of heater/vent module. basically, where the front passenger puts their feet about

2001 Suzuki XL-7. Heater blows hot one side, cold the other.

No ductwork [to the lower vents] under the dash. They are part of the heater core / blower housing is integrated (all one piece).

After reviewing shop manual, we suspect that one of the three damper flaps is not positioning correctly; or debris has blocked one side (which makes more sense given the symptoms).

We're waiting for the temperatures to get back in the plus numbers to check out the physical arrangement.
