Hello Brian,
My name is also Brian and i also own a 1997 Suburban!lol Im not sure why you want to disable this feature, or if your looking for a permanent solution to this! You can easily disable the DRL lights by applying the emergency brake! You can use this method all the time if you only move the pedal a VERY slight amount so the vehicle thinks the brake is on, but you will have to put up with the light on your dash telling you its on! The other route you can go is alot more difficult but permanent. Get the wiring schemeatics, find the wire that enables the lights and eliminate it. be sure if you do this you cover the live wires well to prevent a short!

Maybe I should of been more specific. a lot of GM cars are built and or bought in Canada where driving lights are mandated. GM in their wisdom just did it across the board on all of them. The only way I know to do it is to simply remove the bulb. or more drastically unplug the bulb harnesses. If you live in a state that does inspections though it will fail on safety if factory installed lights are inop.

1997 chevy suburban head lights won't turn on but running and dash lights do work

first thing to check is the headlight relay under the hood. the easiest way to check is to swap it with a non-essential relay of the same type, like the horn or a/c. if the headlights still don't work check for proper power and ground in the relay socket.

Abs light is stuck on. - 1997 chevy suburban

The only way to find out whats causing the light to come on, is to have an abs code scanner hooked up to it,it will pin point the problem. After the problem is fixed, the light will go out, or erase the code with the scanner.
