Question about 1993 Ford F150 SuperCab
I have a 1993 ford f150 2wd w/ a L6 engine i start it and it sputters to stall and if i nurse the gas peddle it'll stay running and after a fiew mins itll stay running for a bit but then gets rough again and eventually stalls sounds like it's backfireing into the exhaust and the rpms surge. if i open it up on the highway it's fine untill i get back down to in town speeds. then again sometimes it completely clears up and runs fine.. no check engine light comes on or anything. ive pulled the air bypass valve apart and cleaned it on the advice of others and it didn't help. tapping the map sensor on advice of others didn't change anything either. blocking egr valve off didn't change anything. and as far as i can figure there is no MAF sensor anywhare between the air cleaner and the air intake.. i have no clue what else..
Unplug the engine coolant temp sensor. 1 for the ecm, not the gauge. It may be way off and causing engine to run very rich, thinking it's cold all the time. At highway speed, you're using enough to get by. If not the answer, uplug MAP sensor and try that. It could think you're in outer space or way below see level. It's black rectangle with vac hose going to it. boo switch and o/d cancel switch errors were likely you not actuating them during koeo test. Others could have been cause by other previous.
