Anti theft 2004 impala

I had fried my stereo, now my ignition wont turn over, i figured it is the anti theft, but i would like to know if i change the stero will that fix it?

The problem is more than likely just a fuse, check the fuse box before replacing the stereo if this does not solve your problem than you will have to have it dealer serviced. good luck!

Yes take it to the dealet ship and they will fix it and you dont have to try to figure it out. Is a program that they have to reset. You need theit computer.

I have a 1987 trans am gta tpi 5.7 350 i just bought the kid i got it from said the anti theft chip fried so he just took it out and spliced the wires said it had no problems running or staring then some...


If it is the antitheft, there will be a light on the dash that says SECURITY. If you see that light, then here is a link to help.

When someone steals a stereo, if they rip it out and damage wires, you could have a short behind the dash. Common practice on old cars was to run a wire from the ignition to the stereo deck so that when the car turned off, so did the deck. This might be the case

Replaced ignition switch need to reset the pass time anti theft system in my 2004 impala


Crank the engine for about 2 seconds ,leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes,theft light should go from blinking to solid at the 10 minute mark,then start engine,Should work on the first attempt,if not ,repeat the sequence.

The ignition key and the ignition switch are part of the anti theft security system. The anti theft system has been triggered and the ignition system will no longer start the car. The only way to get it working again is to take it to a dealership and have them install a new ignition switch with matching key and control module. These three parts plus labor will cost you at least $1,000.00.

if its a factory radio you must take it to a dealer 50 bucks to unlock it
its an anti theft device
