Which one? There are two crankshaft position sensors on the 3.1L.
One is the 24X sensor. It is located behind the crankshaft pulley, installed into the timing cover. The other sensor, the 7X sensor (this is the one that is it fails will cause a no-start condition), is located on the outside of the engine block, close to the crankshaft.
The 1991 was a mid-sized sedan created by Chevrolet in Ontario, Canada. The Lumina is equipped with a crankshaft sensor that detects the position of the vehicle's crankshaft, sending data to the sedan's on-board computer. Having the crankshaft sensor allows the Lumina to make necessary adjustments for the engine to work optimally.
My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata. Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine. Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel. The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel/torque converter. The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose. The crankshaft position sensor is located on the driver-s side of the vehicle, down by the lower radiator hose. The crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the crankshaft pulley. The crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.

You could have a fuel pump issue, the only way to verify that is to check the pressure when it acts up.Also you may have a ignition problem, some of the possible causes could be crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, ignition control module.A easy way to verify ignition issue is to use a spark plug tester after the vehicle has stalled.
On your 1992 Chevrolet Lumina-Sedan/Coupe 3.1L MFI OHV , the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located:
Under hood, passenger side, lower engine area, passenger side of engine block, mounted front of crankshaft pulley
