Car won't start

Car will not start when I turn ignition. I have battery power, all lights and dashboard lights come on, the bell dings, but am getting nothing when I turn the key. I've checked the battery, the fuses and relays by the battery, getting 12 VDC reading at the battery and at the starter. What could the problem be?

I have the same problem with my 2002 Ford Taurus. I had no prior warnings or anything and just got the battery the last week of Nov. When the battery was checked, my alternator and starter was also. Now when you turn the key, nothing but the lights and radio come on and you can open the windows. but other than that nothing.

Only you would know the answer to the question about the security system, look under the steering wheel, is there a big key there?

Do you have any kind of aftermarket security system, like a key that goes in a little slot under the dash below the steering wheel?

2001 s10 will jump start. After it sits, I try to start it, it won't start, but the ignition keeps dinging after I turn it off and take the key out. I can jump start it and the dinging stops.

its sounds like a bad ignition switch-try to jiggle it and see if its stop after you have turned key off- also those dinging sounds are to warn you that you have left something on -usually headlights or maybe even your dome lights which would account for your battery dying

My 2008 silverado won't start battery is charged

No, it isn't an ignition issue.

Check power to the starter motor solenoid.
If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.

1994 Mazda 929, wont start. Car was operational but not started for about 6-7 months. It had a new battery installed previously. Tried to Jump it, but the battery is charged. When key is in ignition,...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If you have no lights inside, you are not getting power. Clean the terminals and the battery post. Take them off and scrub them with a metal brush. Make sure when you put them back that they are tight. Make sure the terminals are not damaged. Check your ignition fuse also. Since you have no power, you have a bad connection or a bad battery. You need to check your alternator also. It may be bad and cause similar issues. Once you have power inside, you have a good connection and it should start.

one of the door ajar switches are sticking. needs to be put on the computer to find out which one. only other way is to go around and unplug the switches until your light shuts off.

Rover Won't Start

Possibly a bad starter, need to check for power at the starter to verify. The big wire is from the battery, the small wire is from the ignition. If you have power on both wires with the key in the crank position, you have a bad starter. If you dont have power on the samll wire when cranking, then you need to test your ignition and neutral safty switches.

the lights are most likely the third brake light on the decklid... small line of led brake lights small unit.. i would clean the ignition switch with some quick start and cycle the key in and out to clean up the contact on the bottom some times soda or coffe gets in there and makes the car think that the cars key is in the ignition

Buick Regal 2001 LS dashboard lights flash off and on

It turned out the ground wire to the battery was loose, Evidently, it loosened up when driving so mimiced the earlier symptoms because it connection was sporadic. I hooked up to a computer to verify after connection tightened and it came away with no errors or problems.

Engine cut out while driving. Would turn over, no start.

If it were mine, I would check to see that there is fuel to the engine and the ignition system is working.
