Question about 1991 Cadillac DeVille
My fuel gauge flashes "E" or just displays "E" and so too, my economy panel does not work correctly either, most likely due to this. My economy shows to go from "0" to 70 back and forth.... and displays nothing in between. What is my problem? Sending unit?.... Ground wire?.... Relay?.... Fuse?....
It seems that you are low on fuel based on you saying 70 miles in the range gauge. If this problem does not happen with 3 gallons of fuel or more then it is normal. The range is calculated on your average MPG and gallons of fuel in the tank. When the car gets to around 2 gallons it does not chance miscalculating your miles to empty and leave you on the side of the road. At this point he tank will read "E" to let you know it is time to fuel up. The flashing "E" is simply cadillac's way to get your attention that you are in fact low on fuel and need to take action. Hope this helps.
