SOURCE: if I just had the transmission fliud changed, can

Yes you can. You should add no more than a pint. This will not overfill too much to damage the seals in the transmission. A pint should help.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 yukon

Slightly overfilling the transmission will not damage it. Driving it with almost no fluid in it will. Chances are, the bands in the tranny are burnt, and debris has also clogged the filter screen. It is probably worth trying to have the transmission flushed (traditional flush, NOT reverse power flushed) and the filter screen replaced. This may enable you to get a few more miles out of it. Also, there is a product called Trans-X that might help.

How to change filter and what to check when transmission is slipping after being overfilled

Most all transmissions have a overflow line so it will get rid of over filling fluid. When a car or truck has a lot of miles on the transmission and you change the filter it will slip because the new fluid has a cleaner in it and the clutch's will not catch. Good Luck Mike L.

Over filled my 2002 dodge Durango transmission fluid, now it's hard to accelerate

Overfilling transmission fluid is generally a bad thing as it could increase pressure and blow the oil seals! I suggest not driving the vehicle until the fluid level is correct.

Transmission fluid showing over fill. What causes this?

overfilling or a faulty indicator? overfilling does not present a problem as far as I know....underfilling does though.. I am referring to an electronic notifier here.
You might want to manually check that every thing is as it should be before checking for component faults.

2008 Toyota Tacoma-automatic. Transmission fluid was drained in error thinking it was oil outlet. Where does new transmission fluid go in? Manual does not provide this specific info.

Trans fluid goes in the same tube the transmission dipstick sticks into. You'll need a funnel with a narrow bottom opening (1/2" or less). Make sure you pour it in the transmission dipstick tube, and not the engine oil dipstick tube. ;)
Initially, try to add about 3/4 of the estimated amount that you accidentally drained, then slow fill the remainder while checking level at different stages.
Also, try not to overfill. Check fluid level often, with engine running, in park or neutral, as you re-fill it.

Where do i put the gearbox oil on the chev lumina ss 2008

If it's a manual transmission then there should be a check plug on the side of the transmission. It should have a 4 sided plug you can remove with eather a 15 or 16 mm open-end wrench or an adjustable (crescent) wrench. Don't overfill, but keep it within 1 inch of the bottom of the check plug hole. Carefully use an allen wrench to check. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission and it has a transmission dipstick, then you can fill it through the dipstick tube but again do not overfill. Drive after filling and with the oil warm ensure the oil level is within the warm/hot cross hatches on the dipstick. Do not overfill. If there is no transmission dipstick on the automatic, then take it to your dealership to fill.

The Automatic Transmission Fluid is supposed to be checked with the car running so there's a chance if you added fluid you've overfilled it. Also, Ford products require Type-F transmission fluid. Using the wrong kind can adversely impact the transmission's performance as well as do damage. Re-check the fluid level with the car running (preferably after 5 minutes or so to get it warm) and see if it's been overfilled. If not, verify if you've added fluid what type you used. If you used the wrong type, you should take the car (or tow) to a service station to have the fluid changed.

Need to add tranny fluid to '99 Rodeo, but where??

CAUTION: DO NOT OVERFILL.
Overfilling will cause foaming, loss of fluid, abnormal shifting and possible damage to the transmission.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly.
2. Check fluid level with engine running at idle.
NOTE: Be sure that transmission fluid temperature is below 30degrees C (86degreesF).
3. Move the selector lever through all gear ranges.
4. Move the selector lever to “Park”.
5. Let engine idle for 3 minutes and open the overfill screw (1).
6. Add released transmission fluid until it flows out over the overfill screw opening.
7. Let engine idle until a fluid temperature between 32C (90F) and 57C (135F) is reached, then close the overfill screw (1).
Torque: 38 Nm (3.9 kg·m/28 lb ft)
NOTE: To prevent fluid leaks, the overfill screw and oil drain screws gasket must be replaced each time these screws are removed.

CAUTION: Do not open overfill screw with engine stopped.
CAUTION: DO NOT CHECK FLUID LEVEL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS:
Immediately after driving at sustained highway speeds.
In heavy city traffic during hot weather.
If vehicle is towing a trailer.
If the vehicle has been operated under these conditions, shut the engine off and allow the vehicle to “cool” for thirty (30) minutes. After the cool down period, restart the vehicle and continue from step 2 above.

Overfilled fluid in transmission

It is not a good idea to run it at all with too much fluid.. Very likely to blow eals and gaskits..
Drop the pan and re-fill..
