I cheked the ground at the fuel tank I cleaned where it grounds. Ihave also checked several other grounds. My Suburban had a bad miss befor it died I was told by one mechanic I had a bad fuel pump and a second GM mechanic said it was my computer going bad.But now That both have been replaced I still not getting spark. I see there is box mounted inside on the firewall drives side and it looks to have a fuse and relays whats it do.

Well for all you out there that are having the same problem I have, check your main harness junction block, you see I live in the desert where it gets 120 to 130 on the pavement and setting in traffic the engine compartment gets even hotter. Orer time the cheap seating compound that GMC uses stars to melt and seeps into all the connectors causing them to loose contact. I have had some electrical problems for the last 3 yrs. and four shops could not figuar out the problem. Some have even said it's easyer to find after it dies. So if your GMC has unexplained misses and hesitates under aload try opening up this connector block it only takes a 1/4" socket to remove the bolt in the centerof the block. This about drove oldgrizzly nuts but I just had to share my find.

Check grounds. The computer can have signals going into it but with grounds the signals do not come out of it. There is a chance that you may have gotten a bad one. Check the O2 wiring harness' and make sure you don't have a burnt wire from it rubbing. I had a Chevy pickup in my shop once and found a bad ground at the rear coming off of the fuel pump harness keeping the truck from starting. At the computer, check the wiring harness for loose or frayed connectors as well.

85 gmc suburban wont start it will turn over ... could it be fuel pump

It could be, I would check for fuel at the test fitting on the fuel rail. Also check for spark at the coil and the plugs and check the fuses and fuel pump relay.

Hello. I can assist you. You need to get your truck on a scanner. You can have this done at a dealership or at many autoparts stores, often auto zone [for instance]. the scan will isolate the problem so that it can be solved.

If you are getting spark then it may be a fuel pump problem or fuel pump relay or inline fuse. Always start Fuel system troubleshooting by replacing the fuel filter or filters! You may be able to apply 12 volts from the battery (use a fused line) directly to the 12 volt side of the fuel pump and listen to see if the pump runs. Also may need to check that it is getting a good ground to the fuel pump. Then if the fuel pump does not run independently, replace the fuel pump. The fuel pump relay is computer controlled and several other things give the computer inputs which then controls the voltage to the fuel pump relay.
