U need to have the cars computer scanned for stored codes, which will give u an idea of what to do.
Most parts stores offer free scans, they just plug into a port under the dashboard, and can have the codes in a couple of minutes, will explain what they mean, and what u should do. If u have any questions after that, u can post another request here.

My 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee loses power going it uphill and when I accelorate it sputters and slows down.

it sounds like you may have a clogged catylic convertor in your exhaust system. after the car has run for a while look at the convertor under the car sometimes they will get red from the heat. or even the exhaust manifold could be red. this just happened to my suv. to confirm that it was my convertors I drilled a 3/8 in hole in the exhaust before the convertors. then I test drove the car going up a steep hill and the car ran fine no more lack of power and the engine ran smooth. if this is not the problem and you drilled a hole in the exhaust pipe then just go to a muffler shop and they will weld the hole closed for a few dollars. good luck

Accelerating uphill

loses power
well if the RPM advances fast on engine and the car speed dont
that is tranny slip.
on the other hand if the engine RPM stays low, and speed is low that
is engine power loose.
2 completly different things, why not ask him which it is.
is my engine weak or is the the tranny slipping.
surely you know what slip means. right>?
like bumping in to neutral , under power. or partially
ENGINE RPM state that, going up said hill WOT
and can tell you.

No pep whenever the car goes up a hill it has no

First of all, the transmission should be down shifting when under load. Staying in o/drive up a hill will only bog the car down. Have the trans. checked.
