Question about 1995 Ford Thunderbird

1 Answer

My '95 Thunderbird wil turn over but randomly will not start.

I have a '95 Thunderbird Lx with the 4.6 L V8. Now and then for the past few months, It sometimes just turns over but doesn't start when i turn the key. The battery is fine. Usually I just need to wait 1 - 5 minutes and it will start up as if nothing was ever wrong, but the other day i had to leave it over night somewhere and go get it the next day. Other than when it doesn't start, it always runs great.

Your crank sensor may be really dirty and can't get a good signal from the reluctor near the balancer. Check the wiring harness to it as well. You may need a new crank sensor.

1996 Ford Thunderbird LX V8 Automatic Transmission shudder

Check rear emergency brakes if you have 4 wheel discs. When soot and brake lining fall to bottom of assembly they jam and shudder until wheels start rolling fast enough to scatter debris.

Also if posi equipped there is a needed rear-end additive to help clutch plates work. Perhaps clean rear-end lube and additive is needed.

I have a '95 Thunderbird Lx with a 4.6 L V8 that will sometimes turn over but will not start. It used to be a rare occurance and would eventually start after waiting awhile (sometimes an hour or so)...

i had the same kind of problem and if you pull the spark plug wires you'll see big black holds that the spark is going to the side of engine instead of going to plug. Change wires!

Have to wait till electroic engine fan shuts off to start engine it is a 97 thunderbird lx v8

This sounds as if the (pcm) Powertrain control module has a ground circuit. It will need to be replaced.

My 95 ford thunderbird V8 LX bogs down when i get to the top of a hill and then i can not give it any gas it just jerks.

It is probably the fuel pump which involves cleaning the tank. YOu can also change the fuel filter which will be attached to the line running from the fuel tank to the engine. Usually midway on the vehicle. this is the cheapest thing to try. the only other possibility is dirty injectors

My car wont start , it will start sometimes , but i been having this problem on and off for a few monthes now , i have put new terminal on the negative side , my friend put a wire in between the post and...

its not the alternator, I have a 96 thunderbird and i had the same problem. its an open ground wire somewhere. Make sure your interior lights are turning off when you shut the car off. if the ground is touching metal they will stay on. If they dont then its probably just barely rubbing, I pulled all my floor lights out and havent had a problem since. you dont need to pull the accesory lights just the 4 floor lights ( 1 in each door and 2 under the panel)
