1997 magna transmission vibration at 80k

First check your transmission fluid level before doing any test. Make certain this is not a speed vibration from the wheels by shifting the lever into 2 instead of D and reaching the speed you are having vibration at (as long as it is safe and you are not over reving the engine). While at that speed shift into D and let the transmission go into it's normal gear ranges and take note if the vibration occurs. I've seen (felt) this type of vibration many times on vehicles where the fluid is low. Adding fluid to the proper level solved this issue on some but on others there was existing transmission wear that this would not help. This doesn't mean the entire transmission is bad as the valve body inside the transmission fluid pan can sometimes cause this. Swapping out the valve body can be pricey but not as pricey as a new transmission and sometimes cheaper then having a used transmission installed.

Article 96-26-21 is being republished in its entirety as part of a consolidated 7.3L diagnostic aid booklet.
ISSUE
Some vehicles with transmissions built prior to 11/13/95 (5L13) may exhibit a driveline resonance/vibration between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the torque convertor engaged. This may be caused by the torque converter.
ACTION
Prior to torque converter replacement, refer to the following Service Procedure for details to verify conditions.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify the resonance/vibration does not occur in neutral and is most noticeable between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the converter clutch engaged during medium to heavy throttle conditions. Also watch for the vibration to diminish at engine speeds lower than 1400 and higher than 2000 RPM. If the concern meets all of these conditions and the transmission has a built date prior to 11/13/95 (5L13), replace the torque converter. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
2. If the vibration concerns do not meet the conditions, check for non-factory installed items that could affect driveline and verify proper installation. Also refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 05-00 for diagnosis and testing.

Vibration

you need to isolate this better. does the vibration occur only when the car is moving or do you feel it when sitting in park and racing the engine a little.=lock into something on the engine. do you feel it in the steering wheel= front tire bad,out of balance, bent wheel.does it seem more like you feel it in the seat like the car itself is vibraitng=look at the rear tires. check that all wheel lug nutts are tight.turning corners and acellerating at the same time the vibration could be a CV axle joint. the axles could also cause a vibration.may have to be put on a lift and see if it vibrates when running of the ground. it can be hard to find .

My car's dash rumbles very hard when idling and in reverse. My friend said something in the (AUTO) transmission is causing the hard idling. Any ideas?

Good afternoon. Sounds like you need to check the engine/transmission mounts. Bad mounts will cause a vibration you are describing and will transmit normal engine vibration into the frame of vehicle causing vibration to occur. Most mounts are made of rubber but some are filled with oil and are called hydro-mounts. Check all mounts for cracked rubber at mount where it attatches to engine, transmission and frame. Hope you find this information useful! Have a great day!

Replace balancer. You don't notice them until you rev it up.

Toyota corolla 1.6 1997 vibration after clutch change

Try checking the engine/transmission mounts, one of them may not have been reinstalled properly, or worn out, causing a vibration. If the car is able to move with the new clutch, and it seems to work, I wouldn't say the clutch was put in wrong. Also check the wires around the engine/transmission, you may have knocked something loose as well.
Hope this helps

VIBRATION

Does the rattling occur whilst you are sitting still, and run the rpms up? Does it come in at a particular rpm, and then go away? If so, the heat shield is the problem. I see this quite a bit. If you can get it to do it at a specific rpm, have someone slide under the truck and, with a large screwdriver, pry on the front pipe and the converter shields. See if the vibration changes.
