The horn button itself is the switch therse power to the horn button and you push the button to complete the cicuit to the horn.if the horn is bolted to the body it is already earthed and requires power to work not earth.

Horn stopped working

Check your ground to the horn. The Horn itself might be bad. Take a battery and hook the ground and then the hot wire on the positive side. Horn should blow, if it does the same then, replace the horn. If it blows, then check relays and proper grounding

horn switches are in the NO FUN category on all newer cars, with bags.
are you sure its bad. lots of work if wrong.
hot wire the horns yet.
are they grounded?
if it has horn relay is it closing (yes, then its not the horn switch)
if no/. the fuse blown
if no, then switch bad or even the connector on column to horn bad.
or just dirty.

Horns not working,original relay 43yrs old !

You hear clicking at horns, and not the relay? Maybe the horns went bad, or maybe you need to check and clean the connections there.
Don\'t know why the cab light went dim, unless the horn wire was trying to make contact?
Yes, TJ, the horn wire should be hot. You are grounding that hot wire when you press for the horn. That hot wire comes from the coil side of the horn relay. Press for horn, it grounds the coil side of relay, and the relay can pass power to the horns.
Now back to the clicking no-honker horns: power gets to the horns when relay is energized, and there has to be a good ground for horns to work. I don\'t know if your horns are case grounded or a wire from horns goes to ground, but check the ground there. If case grounded, pull horns off and clean the ground. Also might try a known good horn. Keep at it, sounds like you are almost there.

Cannot get horn to make any noise? Fuses are OK. Truck sat over the winter months.Went to use horn and nothing. Does steering wheel pad come off. What should I do? 2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 truck ...

Could possibly be a corroded wire, loose wire, bad ground. Not necessarily the wires going to it, but the accessory wire it is attached to. My horn worked when my vehicle was sold to me, then one day it stopped working. Never did anything about it, then 4 years later my power window stopped working. I spent 8 hours tracing out the wire and I found a corroded ground wire where it goes out to the door switch. I tested the power window and it worked and pressed the horn button..it worked too. Give it a try. Or you might just have a bad horn, try to tap it. It might work.

Horn does not work properly sounds like a toyota horn already checked both relays.

Your vechicle only has one horn on it if it is working but has poor sound You need to ck for a poor ground or poor voltage at the horn The horn is located behind the left headlamp disconnect the horn and ck the power wire for 12 volts (green wire) then ck the black wire for a good ground 0 ohms fron the connector to battery Neg post. If these readings are correct then the horn needs to be replaced

there is a tsb for the telescoping motor and linkeage, also sometimes the ground wire to the horn gets torn from use, since it runs down the steering cloumn, or possibly just a fuse.

Horn wont work

Unplug the wire to the horn and make sure you have the horn grounded really good. Take a hot wire and run it from the battery to the horn. touch the hot wire to the end of the horn and see if it works. If it does not work then you need to replace the horn. If the horn works then take a test light and hook it up to the horn wire and have someone push the horn down. you should have a hot wire. If you don't them check the horn fuse. Let me know if this works.
