Check engine light code P2237

My 2005 vw has had the check engine light on for a long time now. i went to get it inspected but it failed, the problem was the sensor P2237 - 02 sensor positive current control circuit/open bank1 sensor 1. does anyone know what this means or how to fix it.

P1744 is probably the TC going on the way out. :(

P 340 is probably the sensor itself. Don't get the Dorman one if it is the OHV motor.

P 401 is probably a bad DPF EGR sensor.

  Check the wire harness near the top of the engine in the rear. They were good for rubbing through on the trans fill tube bracket. Judging by the code you have 4 sensors. you would be interested in the drivers side rear sensor.

Even check the coolant sensors. I had a sensor that went bad and it was seeping by the sensor. Another problem can be the plastic coolant flange that goes onto the head. They can crack, especially if the hose has been changed or pressed on while doing other maintenance. If the engine has been overheated the flange can also melt enough to allow coolant to seep out. Sometimes these only leak when the engine is hot and pressure has built up in the cooling system. Try using a web search engine using the codes.

There may be a possiblity of doing damage to the turbo if you continue to drive it this way. I would recommend either taking it to the dealer or a reputable repair shop in your area to have this repaired as soon as possible, as to not risk damaging the turbo. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a 2008 VW Passat. When the engine light came on I stopped at Autozone and they gave me the following codes: P0089, P0642, P2004. Anyone know what they mean?

CODE 89 IS FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR 1 PERFORMANCE.CODE 642 SENSOR REFERANCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT "A" LOW.AND CODE 2004 IS ITAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL STUCK OPEN.CK FOR BAD OR MISSING VACUUM LINES.IS IT STILL UNDER WARRANTY

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento with 94k miles. Recently my engine warning light came on. It is driving great, but I went to Kia to have it checked. Said my intake manafold needs to be replaced.


If the check engine light came on I assume it was the check engine light, then you may feel no symptom for the code but never the less you have a failed part of other electrical issue, so if the manifold needs to be replaced to correct the check engine light and its fault code then that is what needs to be done. Remember if the CEL is on you will fail any emission inspection that is required.

2009 Hyundai Sonata car failed inspection due to a check engine light coming on.


It all depends on why your light is on. Most National part store chains offer free scanning to tell you what codes are stored and setting your light on. Sometimes clearing the codes will keep the light off long enough to pass the inspection, but either way you will know where the problem lies and will be able to get it fixed so you will not have to worry about it.

Yes, fix it.
When the check engine light is on it's in limp home mode. Means it goes to set values and runs poorly...
also, check local/state laws. they may have a grandfather clause that states after you invest a certain amount of money, they will pass it...

Will my 2001 VW Beetle pass inspection if the airbag light is on and the check engine light is on? I live in Texas and dont know if it will pass.


if the check engine light is on it will not pass, the airbag light will not make you fail but if the engine light is on it will not pass an emissions test.

Went to inspection yesterday and my Avalon passed then later that day my engine light came on


The inspectors had to remove your fuel cap to inspect it and might have failed to put it back on tight enough. This is a common problem and will cause your "check engine light" to come on. Check the tightness of the cap and then take your car to any major auto parts store and have them read out the stored trouble code that was set when the check engine light came on. They will do this for free. Copy down the code(s) and then have them erased. This will reset the check engine light. Check the code(s) at the store to see if it corresponds to a loose fuel cap. If so, your problem is solved.

If not, you lucked out and passed your inspection just before a problem cropped up! Use the codes you copied down and get code definitions at the auto parts store. This is the place to start for diagnosing the problem.

Was driving a light in dash board came on and it looks like an engine. went to drive today and got around the corner and car died with lots of black smoke coming out of tail pipe. (VW Jetta)


The check engine light is the light and it sounds like that the coolant temperture senser has come unplugged or is bad. You can get the check engine light ( read) at an auto parts store as it'll tell ou the codes the indicated the problem area that the light is conplaining about a carefull inspection for wires disconnected may find the problem to as the airflow senser can failin wet weather and any connector can get wet or dirty and work poorly.

I have a 2003 Jetta TDI and the coil light comes on and flashes


Amazingly enough, If one or more of your brake lights is burned out this can cause the Glow plug indicator to flash, replace the burned out bulb(s). This often sets a Code but will not turn on the Check Engine light. It took me forever to find this solution first time it happened. I've seen it many times since.

1992 VW GTI 16v check engine light???


The light has likely burned out. I doubt if someone removed the bulb. Have that checked before hitting the panic button! Any car with computer controls has a light.
