Question about 2003 Honda Civic
When driving the car engine cuts out and you cannot restart the car for a few minutes. The dashboard lights (engine light, key light etc also go out). This poblem is intermittent and has no relation to how long the car has been driven for it sometimes happens within minutes and other times does not happen at all. I have asked Honda Dealer who said it was probably relays under glovebox, I changed them but the problem is still there. Anybody out there who can help please.
I would first check all the wiring harnes multi plugs, if you have one that is loose that would cause an intermient fault and if left to progress could over heat and in extreme circumstances could set on fire, i am not tring to scare you but i have seen this have to various makes of vehicles. the connections could be arcing. if they all seem ok, obviously check the battery conections and the main fuse link that supplies the fuse board, they are usually near the main battery and are quiet say about 20mm long. another sugestion is the ignition switch could be faulty. if you can get the cowling off from around the steering column and get access to the switch, with the engine running give it a wiggle, this will also work for the wiring connections, have the engine running the checking the conections if loose or faulty it should cut the engine out, ONLY DO THIS TO THE 12 VOLT CIRCUIT, DO NT TOUCH THE IGNITION LEADS OR WIRIES UNDER THE BONNET WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNING. Hope this helps
