When you open the hydraulic brake line air enters. You will have to bleed the air out before there will be any brake pressure. If the master cylinder is empty there will be air in it to, it is a dual cylinder. Remove both lines at the cylinder you will need a bleeder kit (from auto parts store) or make your own, the way to bleed it is to connect a tube to each port on the cyl. then take both tubes to enter the fluid in the top of the cyl.Slowly work the cyl. till all air is out of the cyl.If the vacuum booster has not had the vacuum released you must do that or the master cyl. will be ruined (with air in the cyl. the booster will drive the piston cups to the end and destroy them) After the master has been bled reattach the lines. Use the tool (from parts house) to hold the apportioning valve open. Keeping the master cyl. full at all times, open the bleeder screws on the calipers one at time and bleed all air out.

Testimonial: "thank you it turned out the master cyl was bad"

No breaks on fiat punto

If you or someone you know could fix them they are easy enough depending where it's leaking from is it from the pipes or calipers the calipers are easy enough to change goto a scrapyard and get one for around 10 to 15 pounds you and a friend could bleed the calipers
or you could buy
A self bleeding tool cheep enough so you could do it on your own.

Interchangeable parts

Yes, as the only difference i see, is that the 2000 models have dual piston calipers, stiffer springs, larger rear spring spacers, and different gear ratios. You might have to swap your gears out of the 2000 into the 97, and use your 2000 springs if you want to retain your original ridehight, I think the calipers are interchangeable directly.

97 saturn brake problems. Replaced master cylinder, both front calipers and rotors. Replaced both rear wheel cilinders shoes and drums. Also replaced all rubber brake lines yet no pedal after bleeding....

Get another master cylinder,If you want to really find out if the master cylinder is goo open one of the lines have someone pump the brake, with your finger over the open cylinder line you will have pressure coming out, and if you feel vacuum has your assistant releases the pedal that a sure sign the master cylinder is not working,Also when you have a master cylinder before you install you need to bench bleed it

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 that Upon breaking begins to vibrate and kinda bounce plus it wants to pull to he right away from the side that vibrates. Any ideas. The vibrating and shaking begins about one...

You need to have the front rotors turned or replaced. Take a set of dial calipers and measure the rotor thickness. compare that to the specs on the rotor and that will let you know if you can turn them. Put new pads on and make sure to lube the slider pins.

Replaced rear brake calipers on 2003 Sebring. Now caliper does not release off of rotor. Brake line has been bled. Changed caliper out because previous one was not releasing... Any ideas why this is...

Try pumping breaks and let go then break bleeder loose if fluid shoots out it usually means the rubber line is collapsed on the inside and needs replaced

The breas ar locking up nd ar shaking bad whe it

I think your calipers are sticking. That is you push pedal, release, but calipers are still squeazing pads causing rotors to overheat and warp making brakes shake. Calipers can be rebuilt or replaced. Good Luck!

97 4runner---brakes locking up

your rear hub seals are leaking, which leak grease/hub fluid in to the drums which will make them stick.
