Heater fan When it is turned on it makes a very loud noise and then after a few minutes becomes quieter

Not sure if the same thing is going on, I have an ,01 Altima and the fans will sound like a jet engine and then will get quieter. Maybe 5mins later I will hear the jet engine fan sound again.

I took it to Nissan and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. The only answer they could give is the fans run loud, it is what it is...

    It's annoying though

It's the cold air injection fan motor your hearing yes it is normal that you hear it. As for grinding noise your going to have to look under the car to see if anything is rubbing.

Loud noise when a/c and defrost are on

I would check the fan motor for the heater sounds like the bearing is going out. Does it scream and then go quite or rumble if so it is probably the heater fan. It will run and blow air but it will make a lot of weird noises. If you shut the fan off and the noise goes away it is the fan.

My heater fan is turning on and off, and it sounds horrible when it does work. Is it the resistor pack? I only ask because of the noises.

It is not probably the resistor pack, because that only is in circuit at lower speeds, and would not cause noise.
If there is not something in the fan, like leaves, then it is probably the fan motor bearing.
If you can get at it, you could try lubricating it. Thin sprays get in better, but don't last as long.
Heavy grease is best.

I have a 01 chevy monye carlo that when i start the car and i turn on the heater it make this very loud noise and after a few mins it stops

Hi

It sounds like the fan for the heaters / blowers is shot. the bearing inside the motor will be whats making the noise, it shouldnt be expensive though.

Hope that helps

Had same problem. Replace Blower Motor. Over a 100 dollars at local parts store, but found online for half price. About 30 minutes to replace. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1431961&parttype=6916
6 screws to remove glove box, One plastic nut on kick panel and 3 screws hold the blower to the air box.
