Iam sure you have a sensor problem here and it could the autochoke is flooding the engine as its not getting the right reading via the computer so check and change the temperature sensors before you start spending money on exotic causes like the computer

It's a sensor. I had one that was cracked. When the car warmed up the heat caused the crack to expand and the sensor wouldn't work. After the car cooled it was fine until it got hot again. The sensor is probably gone for good now. You would need diagnostics or troubleshooting to determine which one. You can get a hand held diagnostic computer for cars. Some auto parts stores check for free. You could see if any does a loan-a-tool.

86 dodge D100 dies and wont restart

Sounds like vapor lock. In laymans terms the engine heat causes the fuel flow to stop. Once everything cools off the truck starts. Insulating around the fuel line seems to be the solution. Try aluminum foil. Or perhaps a reroute of the fuel line to get it away from direct engine heat.

1998 Chrysler Concorde just stopped running while driving down the road. No warnings, the engine just shut down. The check engine light did not come on, the lights stayed on. When I tried to restart it, it turned over but would not start. What could have caused this?

ok its one of two things you need to check when it cuts off if you have spark or fuel if you lose fuel pressure replace pump it gets hot and makes noise like its running but its not pumping fuel and if you lose spark you need to replace ignition control module has a hair line crack in it and when gets hot the crack expands and loses contact and wala no spark

Most likely air flow metre. Had same problem analysed and replaced and runs perfectly. Not cheap!

The problem is your crank shaft position sensor. It is usually behind the harmonic balancer.

Thanx, have fixed the problem now... wasn't the computer lol. It was the crankangle sensor.... thank you all for your help.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, changed the Crank angle sensor & cam angle sensor, fine ever since.

I also had the problem with the car just cutting out, I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump but still had the same problem. I then replaced the crank angle senor only and its been fine since. Thank you for posting your comments
