Question about 1995 BMW M3

1 Answer

Starting Car Over the past 6 months when starting my manual 95 M3 I have had an intermmitent issue where the car will start to crank and then it stops cranking to a kind of hissing sound and the car doesn't turn over. This used to happen once every 3 or 4 weeks and has been increasing in frequency to almost once a day. Also it would happen only once and now I may need to crank the car three times before it actually starts. I am thinking the starter. Pretty sure it's not the battery. Your insight is much appreciated!

Starter and battery and associated cables are good suspects...if you're not able to do
tests....one quick helper here...if you turn headlights on while cranking and see them dim greatly while cranking indicates weak battery and/or over hungry starter

My Volvo S80 has an intermmitant starting problem. First the car won't start next morning no problem. My assumption is a start issue. What's your take

first, does the vehicle spin over and not start? if so, check the cranshaft positioning sensor, it may not be getting spark.

Take at least seven time before my car start?

if its cranking over its not the battery or starter. Its going to be a fuel pump issue or ignition issue. You wil need some test equipment. Best bet is to take it in if you dont have the equipment before you end up stranded and have to get towed in.

95 Acura Integra starting problem

This happened to me on a 95 Integra GSR and the entire starter did not need to be replaced, just the solenoid pieces. They get old and worn down and the plunger no longer makes a good connection with them, hence the "click". Replace the solenoid panels and sand the plunger and your good as new. You can find instructions for this on the net, just do a search for it.

95 Accord starting problem

hi,i had the exact same problem, and after many frustrating months ,i found out that by changing the speed sensor relay(located on the gearbox),solved all the problems.6 months have passed and still no troubles.when the motor heats up yhe contacts in the relay expand and dont make contact, thats why if you wait a short time and it cools down a bit it starts.i hope it works for you also.

Your fuel injection pressure is probably leaking down causing gasoline to leak into the cylinders and resulting in a hard hot starting condition due to "flooding" of the engine. Try holding the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor of the car like your trying to go maximum speed down the highway and crank the engine for 10 seconds or less at a time. That tells your computer to enter the "clear flood" mode and stop injecting gas into the engine. Ask your repair shop to measure the fuel pressure and see if the pressure is bleeding off too rapidly.
