Do the brake lamps work? If they don't check for blown fuses. The brake lamp switch may have shorted when the booster was replaced.

1997 ford taurus losng brake fluid. No visible leak

If your not finding leaks at the wheels remove the master cylinder from the power booster and look for a leak there. You don't need to disconnect it, just the two nuts holding it on and then very easily move it away far enough to see.

How to know if my brake booster or my master cyclinder is the problem on 1997 ford expedition? My brakes don't go to the floor when they wanna fail but I hear a sound near my dash where I'm driving, it...

If you have drum brakes, check to make sure the wheel cylinders are not leaking, if they are not i would throw a master cylinder in the vehicle because its not the brake booster, all the brake booster does is provide assistance for braking making it easier for you to depress the pedal.

How do i replace a power brake booster on a 97 ford taurus

  1. Step 1 Mark the brake lines coming into and out of the master cylinder using masking tape and permanent marker.
  2. Step 2 Orient the tube wrench so that it grabs the end of the nut by first sliding it over the brake line.
  3. Step 3 Pull the brake lines out of the master cylinder.
  4. Step 4 Unbolt the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to the brake booster.
  5. Step 5 Slide the master cylinder off the brake booster.
  6. Step 6 Remove the bolts that hold the brake booster to the firewall.
  7. Step 7 Remove the cotter pin from the pin holding the back of the brake pedal to the master cylinder.
  8. Step 8 Slide the brake booster to brake pedal pin out of the mounting bracket.
  9. Step 9 Pull the brake booster off the firewall.
  10. Step 10 Install the new brake booster. Installation is the reverse of removal.

How do you change a power booster assembly on a 2002 ford taurus

1st go inside the car and remove the rod from the brake pedal that actuates the booster, then look around where that rod goes through the firewall wall, there are 4 studs with nuts on them with, the rod is centered between these studs, sound deadener material may have to be removed to get at the nuts, once that is done, go out under the hood and unbolt the the brake master cylinder from the booster, there are 2 nuts on studs, move the master off to the outside by GENTLY bending the brake lines attached to it, unplug the large 3/8" vacuum hose from the booster and remove the booster, they can be hard to remove, and some other parts like wire harnesses and brackets may have to be pulled out of the way.
