Question about 1992 Toyota Celica

1 Answer

Wiring problem, Bosch alternator, unknown model

This has nothing to do with 92 celica, but had to put some product in to ask the question-

I have a new bosch alternator (model/serial# tags missing) purchased in a pallet of parts at an industrial auction. It is 14v, and pretty sure to be from a toyota LP hilo/forklift.

It has built in regulator;
1 threaded post (marked B+);
1 slot connection marked D+;
1 slot connection marked W;
and a small ...? screwed (grounded) to case with a small wire connection back to post marked B+.
Would like to use in a customized/slash/cobble-jobbed buggy project if I can but need to know where to start wiring this up- specifically:
Which connection goes to solenoid (+)? which goes to switch? Which connects to which (meaning all these connections)?

I realize this isn't exactly your alley, but hope you automotive expertise could get me stard. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Bosch alternators are as follows:
B+ is the output
D+ is the Auxillery, should really be "D+/61"
W is tacho
DF is the field
D- is the negative
Hook your B+ to the battery, D to ignition should get you started; hope this helps.

Buckin Celica

I had a similar problem with my 92 (same as yours). Does the tachometer jump around wildly when this happens ? Mine did until I found an intermittently grounded wire between the A/C plug and the tach input to the computer. Tough problem for you. Was easier for me because someone had placed a jumper wire on outside of the harness and that was the one with the short. I cut it and the problem stopped. Not sure on yours but sounds just like the problem I had.

Good Luck
