2002 alero cd player problem

Hi,
I have a 2002 olds alero, It all of a sudden stopped working and RDM 1 (random 1) is all that appeared and none of the other buttons are working at all and I the eject button isn't functioning either. I think it is 1 of 2 possible problems that caused it the first one is that i put a cd in there that has a corrupted song and it acted weird everytime it would go to the song....so i would eject the cd before it would get to that song...could a virus damage a cd player if there was one on the disc? (if thats even possible). The second thing is that I had JUST got an oil change today and the cd player was working all day until AFTER the oil change...could they have messed up the cd player some how? I would really appreciate it if there was an answer to my problem and a possible solution as to how to go aboust fixing it and where the best place to get it repaired would be. Thank you.

I just got my oil changed last week plus some mechanical work, then I drove my car to work and it is a 2000 Alero, and the radio just stopped working too..I wish I had some answers, but that is what I was looking for when I found your problem.

The fact that the cd had a corrupt song on it would do nothing to the car as the stereo doesn't have that type of comuter and the second thought that you had is not the problem but good thought on trying to pass the blame on the mechanics what i think that the problme is, is that the stereo has go a problem with the main power board and that means that the stereo will have to be removed and sent to a stereo shop for a bench test and possible repair if they can repair it

it's busted, and needs service, hark"?
most folks won't spend $200 on repairs, if new is less!
so, time for an upgrade (media center with usb and 4000 songs. like rest of world uses, sure, why not?>)
this answer is here, like 100 times. and is right.
im the guy fixes the boxes. and can.
but im not teaching that here,
ok basics
check all fuses related, outside and inside.
open unit look for dirt and debris. (labels fell of, cracked up CD parts)
look and remove this junk.
and get luck 1/2 the time.

12years of service and filth,
next is OPTICS cleaned, (tedious and TLC)

Why would my '02 Olds Alero suddenly not shift into reverse?

My guess is the ignition needs to be replaced. check to see if theres a recall for it. 2 years ago on my 2002 alero I found a recall for the flasher switch which was causing intermediate directionals and 2 more for the computer

What is the traffic button for in a 2002 alero

According to the owners manual

TRAF (Traffic): Press this button to receive traffic announcements. The traffic announcement brackets will appear on the display. TRAF will appear on the display if the current station broadcasts traffic announcements. If the current station does not broadcast traffic announcements, the radio will seek to a station that does. When the radio finds a station that broadcasts traffic announcements, it will stop. If no station is found, NO TRAFFIC will appear on the display. When a traffic announcement comes on the current radio station or a related network station, you will hear it, even if the volume is muted or a compact disc is playing. If the compact disc player was being used, the compact disc will stay in the player and resume play at the point where it stopped. INFO (Information): If the current station has a message, INFO will appear on the display. Press this button to see the message. If the whole message does not appear on the display, parts of the message will appear every three seconds until the message is completed. To see the parts of the message faster than every three seconds, press this button again. A new group of words will appear on the display. Once the complete message has been displayed, INFO will disappear from the display until another new message is received. Hope this helps.

NEED TO REPROGRAM RAIDO AFTER BATTERY DIED

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must have the security anti-theft code for your VW radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Volkswagen dealer!

You can find the radio code at: http://www.radio-code.co.uk/
tdisline_701.jpg
The sequence of programming for a 2000 VW Beetle radio Gamma is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDM" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDM" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
For example: we have the security code "5079". Then:
3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted.
4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted.
5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted.
6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDM" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed.
The radio is now ready for use!

I'm trying to install a cd player in my 04 alero. There are four extra wires. None of the colors match. All i need to know is which wire goes where

You can purchase a wire harness from Auto Zone for you particular car, all the wires match up and it takes the guess work out, it cost about $15.00 and about five minutes to connect wire and ready to install.
