Question about 2002 Mazda Tribute
Truck was running fine
just have two issue engine maintaince light on and air break light on
i try to change plugs and i do not know but happen my truck does not wannna even move no power.
start up fine but when you give more gas it does not run smooth
i doube chck triple check all the connection and hosing connection
Could be carbon build-up on the pistons, causing erratic flame travel in the combustion chamber... 'pinging'...... Decarbon the engine and use a high grade fuel for a few tanks.... also an octane booster can help

if i remember right if the battery light and check engine light is on, your alternators may be bad. your battery may just have enough to keep it running for a minute or so. you can take it out and get it tested at a auto parts store. or try charging your battery for awhile and see if it stays on longer. if this is completely wrong let me know

check your coil and see if you have fire.if you have fire then you need to check your fuel pressure. i have a mazda 2600i that did the same thing and it was the coil .did your truck back fire when you shout it off?. if it did iam pretty sure its your coil.note there is a module in side the dis very few people know about this but they are not notted for going bad good luck

SOURCE: 1999 Mazda Protege won't start.
Recheck that the spark plug firing order or in other words the spark plug wires are in the proper order after that checks out ok, then run dry gas in the car and check all vacuum hoses there may be a vacuum leak somewhere.
