Check the crank and camshaft position sensors.  Had the same problem and thats what it was

We were driving with a trailer 1 hour ..temp hot outside 80 degrees when we stopped for a little while. Now that we tried to get going the car will not turn over..thoughts


If your saying the starter motor won't crank, then check the starter motor motor wiring circuits. Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the spark plugs, where applicable. Also, check for proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.

Car starts great, warms up then misfires and stalls out. Installed new water pump, timing. This question has been answered but the detail below still pertains to this same issue.


Hi, if you have been talking to somebody, if you reply on the comment link, they will know your asking another question. As far as firing order, whatever cylinder would have to be on compression stroke.

Why is there no power to starter or lights?


What smoked ,the Fuse? SHORT ? what fuse ? Main fuse - explain ? Still no fire ? Doesn't crank , no spark ,what ? Does the starter spin the engine when you turn the key to the start position ? a crank no start condition . or a no crank - no start ! Check fuse F1 80 amp in the under hood fuse box.

1990 geo storm sohc is running rough. Parts that are new: cap, rotor, plugs wires,plugs, pickup coil, and the ignition module looks brand new. The coil is old, but is still sending spark through all t


the timing is 180 degrees out so ignore where no 1 lead should be and rewire the HT leads to the new position for no1 cylinder. The crank timing mark should be on 10 degrees advanced. Engines are timed off the crank position so forget the cam position.
Or you can start again. Remove no 1 plug and turn the engine over until you feel compression under your finger over the plug hole. Set the timing on the crank to 10 degrees before tdc. Position the distributor so that the point of the star is directly opposite the exciter coil in the distributor. The rotor button should now be facing no 1 cylinder plug lead adjust the HT leads so that they will fire in the 1342 firing order. Start the engine and with a timing light attached to no 1 plug lead adjust the timing mark to specifications by turning the body of the distributor.

When the temp out side gets up to 80-90 degrees my car want crank


The first thing you need to do is verify that your battery and charging system is in good operaing condition. I have seen sulfated batteries that would have enough power to turn the starter motor, but not enough power to operate the computer engine control system while the starter was cranking.If that is OK, then I would recommend scanning your onboard computer system for fault codes, then diagnose and repair accordingly.

Will not start on hot day's in the sun.[engine cranks normal]


The normal reason why a hot engine doesn't start is the choke. Your fancy new range rover will have a computer controlled choke that will be activiated by a temperature sensor. maybe this has failed or is disconnected
In my ancient range rover I have a manual choke but essentially the same engine. I know that if the motor is hot I can't start it with the choke on.
The way the choke works is it restricts the airflow into the engine so that there is a richer fuel / air mixture which is needed for a cold start. If the engine is hot and the choke comes on the engiine floods with petrol and there isn't enough oxygen for it too ignite in the cylinders. To start a flooded engine you have to open the choke and crank the motor without pressing the accelerator. This pumps out the petrol vapour and eventually it will fire and start. If the computer thinks it is cold because of a disconnected or faulty sensor it will put on the choke whenever you try and start and the engine will flood.
I think a vapour lock is unlikely unless you driving in extremely hot weather (above 40 degrees celsius).

Wont Start when its hot outside


Check out this link. I just type you a long paragraph on here but i don't think it took. Anyway, It was the main relay located under the steering wheel. Same thing was happening and the car cranks fine after replacing it. 25 dollar part.http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=53888
