Hello, I had to replace my OEM radio for another one since it didn´t played cd´s anymore. I hooked it up and it says LOCKED, the GM dealer charges me 90 usd for programming the radio. Anything you have to solve this?

Re: malibu 2004 radio unlock codes
The only way to unlock the radio is by using a scan tool. The scan tool sends the appropriate diagnostic message (relearn VIN) to reset the radio. Using a scan tool, select the radio VIN relearn procedure from the module replacement screen in Vehicle Control Systems......find some one with a Tech 2

if you are needing the unlock code for the radio to make it work again the only way you can get that is from the dealership and you have to have the vin number from the vehicle it came out of as the code is attached to that vin number as part of the original equipment on that specific vehicle
Radio security systems have to be disabled before they can be disconnected. Most radios I have done you have to push the 1 and 4 buttons at the same time and enter the security code. If your radio saysLOC, then you can take it to a dealer and they can reprogram it. If it says LOCKED then it thinks its been stolen and not useable in any vehicle except the one it came out of. Kind of sucks you can't replace radios they way we use to.
The only thing that is left for you to do is to remove the stereo and then disassemble it and remove it yourself. A little daunting but needs to be done. Sounds like it went in wrong and then became jammed
the only thing i can sagest is that you leave the battery disconnected over night this may reset the cd player and it may

Recognise that it has cds in it the only other thing i can think of is that when it says enter single disk only that you do so to a point don't let it go all the way in this may make the cd player think there is a disk in there hope this helps ricko
My CD player did the same thing on my 2005 Chevy Malibu MAXX LS. I know it sounds weird, but disconnect the car battery from the car (resetting the whole car system), and then reconnect. I pressed the eject button on the console, and it ejected my CD with no problem.
