Mercury Mariner Hybrid with "Cricket" noise in dash

SECTION 419-10: Multifunction Electronic Modules 2005 Escape/Mariner/Escape Hybrid Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 06/30/2004 Module Controlled Functions The smart junction box (SJB) is the multifunction electronic control module on this vehicle. The SJB is a combination of a multifunction control module and an interior power junction box. SJB functions control multiple systems, which include:

• illuminated entry and interior lamps
• exterior lamps
• power door locks
• smart locks
• remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad
• RKE system
• warning chimes
• rear windshield wiper

The SJB is located under the front passenger side floor console. For removal information, refer to Smart Junction Box (SJB) in this section. For additional information on the interior lamps and illuminated entry, refer to Section 417-02 . For additional information on the exterior lighting, refer to Section 417-01 . For additional information on the power door locks, the RKE keypad, and the RKE system, refer to Section 501-14 . For additional information on the rear windshield wiper, refer to Section 501-16 . For additional information on the perimeter anti-theft, refer to Section 419-01A . For additional information on the climate control system, refer to Section 412-00A (Escape, Mariner), or Section 412-00B (Escape Hybrid). For additional information on the warning chimes, refer to Section 413-09 .

It is possible that you have a cricket in you heating and air conditioning ducts. I have personally found all kinds "critters" in those places while working on vehicles, including snakes, grasshoppers, mice and chipmonks. I even found one lady's pet lizzard in the A/C housing after she couldn't figure out where it went when it got loose in her car after a Vet visit.

relay clicking?

Its likely the fan motor fan is rubing on the plastic houseing or something fell down into the defroster vent . You could try to realign the motor from under the hood its on the fire wall on the drivers side . Try loosening the nuts that hold it to the fire wall then turn the fan on and shift it around see if it stops if it dose then tighen it back up . If not you could remove the nuts and pull the motor uot and stick your hand inside the housing to see if something did fall inside . Idon;t think you need any new parts the fan motor isn't old enough to have a warn bearing issue unless the fan cage is cracked but thats is not an expensive part and farly simple to replace

for the check engine light:
-you can go to auto zone and have them hook it up to the computer for free!!!!!

for the squeaky cricket noise:
-could possibly be a wheel bearing starting to go bad, or possibly a wear sensor on the brakes....

that is only if it makes the noise when the vehicle is in motion.... if the sound is there while it is sitting still, then you could have a pulley bearing going bad... hope this helps.... please rate this...

replace the air and the fuel filters and check the drive belt on the engine replaced as ness, that is it.

Located on passenger side. Tou need to look under the dash then turn to look under the console. You will see a black box PAT unit around 8 or 10 inches long with fairly large numbers printed on its side. These are the 5 numbers you will need

There is a tsb for that concern but with the noise originating from the passenger seat. One question leather seats? If so or if not try moving the passeger seat in diffrent positions and test drive. good luck

you might need a stethiscope to hear where this is coming from could be a idler or maybe the tensioner or maybe the alternator .. none of these would bother power

Could it be your back up sensor going off that is making the sonar sound?
