SOURCE: Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low

Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.

SOURCE: 1990 Plymouth Horizon America troublre

The speedometer went out at 50,000 miles. The head gasket blew at 125,000 miles. I bought this car new when I started college, and it was the best front-wheel drive car I ever owned. The speedometer went at about 50,000 miles. I traced it to the printed circuit board, but Chrysler didn't carry the part, so I guessed my speed based on what gear I was in and my tachometer reading.

SOURCE: Car shuts off

I would check the Idle Air Ctrl. valve.if not opening when coming to a stop eng will starve for air cause air is not bypassing the throttle plate when the plate is closed

Remove the A.I.S motor and give it a good cleaning (especially the pintle -pointed end ) with throttle body spray cleaner, as well as the port you remove it from, then re-install and try it. That will usually cure it, and if it starts to happen again, replace the A.I.S. motor. Doesn't hurt to give throttle plate and area a spray while your at it.fd70c70.gif

1981 Plymouth Reliant starts right up...Idles great....Give it gas back fries through the carb....even when driving down the road...After the back fire starts to idle rough....

There are many reasons why an engine should spit back through the carb. I once encountered a Ford that had a worn exhaust lobe on the camshaft so the valve was barely opening - the engine ran very well until the throttle was opened. It is still a huge mystery how the owner had managed to drive it to my workshop.

The most common reason is a lean air/fuel mixture caused by one or more carb jets being blocked.

A thorough carb clean is a sizeable task that shouldn't be undertaken lightly and it is best practice to tackle it last after ensuring everything else is as the manufacturer intended it to be - from spark plugs and spark power/quality, timing, valve operation, fuel delivery quantity and pressure, etc., etc.

My 1988 plymouth horizon runs fine when on throttle but when i let up it spits nd sputters and dies. I have checked the charging system and it brings up no codes.

Check and clean AIS motor. (automatic idle speed) sometimes referred to as IAC as well. ( Idle Air control) same thing. remove it and clean pintle (pointed end) well with throttle body spray cleaner, as well as port it comes out of, and try it. If it's cured great, if it happens again a little later, replace it.

Van dies after 10 min drive when pulling into

Try removing the idle speed motor on side of throttle body, and spray it clean, as well as the port it came out of, with throttle body spray cleaner. Don't pull and extend shaft of idle motor, just leave it in position it's in, and make sure you don't lose small "O" ring on idle motor. Re-install and try it. If it cures it for a while, then starts to do it again, replace the idle speed motor.

New gear. and no charge

You've cleaned & checked & tightened all your battery connections good, and looked for thinning wires at battery terminal ends? Check all the grounds (-) at other end of battery terminals, and make sure they are clean & tight. What voltage do you read at battery when engine running, and not running? Next time you have to boost it to start, try just connecting the (-) negative & see if it starts, if it does you have a bad ground connection somewhere.
