2000 hyundai accent - bad screeching sound coming from the belts.

Every morning when i go to start my hyundai it screeeches for a good 5 seconds, sometimes longer. high pitch, very annoying, not to mention embarassing screeching. only when its cold though. i put up the hood and turned it on and its coming from the belts. im not sure if its the timing belt or alt. belt? or maybe something different. does anyone know what the problem is? easy to fix? parts? cost? anything?

I found out that if I start my car and turn the heat all the way down on cool and 0 it doesnt screech. If I turn the heat on it automatically starts screeching. If I start my car with the heat on full blast it screeches right away.

Hi as the timing belt is toothed it would not slip however it may be loose and in need of renew? as you do not mention milage ie period the belt is due for replacement ? the screech if this above is problem? would/could be the belt slip on the adjuster bearing which should also be renewed with belt i would first check out the alternator/p/steer belt as the loading of belt if slack/worne when starting from cold will give screech as it starts to overcome load of alter and especially p/steer oil pump then noise ceases as engine warms?? if you drop this belt off bfore you first start from cold ? would give an indication of which belt req's attention ? ps! as for age of car/milage? would not ignore the recommended milage for timing belt renewal ? hope this helps you diagnose problem ?

My car makes loud screeching noise when starting.

could be your serpentine belt. usually when they get worn they will start to either slip or cause a very high pitched screeching noise. to verify that is the cause get some water or brake clean in a spray bottle and spray it on to the belt while the vehicle is running. if the noise goes away for a moment you found your cause. if not then its something else. Hope this helps

2010 Elantra, started with a high pitched sound turning left. Did that for a few days, then started when turning right. Now same noise is cooming for about 10 seconds. Not immediately on start up but

You may need to check the belts on your car's power steering section. Make sure the belts are tight and not worn out. Check for cracks on the belt and if loose, tighten it. There is also a product called Automotive belt dressing that you can spray on the belt to make it stick more easily to the pulley it is supposed to turn.

High pitched noise and Rattling in gear box.

sound like main shaft bearing assuming it is manual( if it comes on all the gears)

if it is automatic it must be your torque converter bearing

It still could be the throw-out bearing. When going bad, they have a high pitched whine or whistling, and if bad enough, could imitate a vibrating sensation. IDK, I would have a mechanic there listen to it.

When I turn on the car, there is a high pitch squeal. It last for 10 seconds and then goes away. It usually only happens in cold or rainy weather. Do you know what is going on and what I should do about...

It could be as simple as a loose or worn alternator belt that needs replacement or the cars charging system is not putting enough charge back into the battery under normal running so when first started in the morning the battery requires more power from the alternator which in turn puts more load on the alternator belt, Get the belt checked first then get the battery and charging checked, the first item being the cheapest to repair. Hope this helps.

Check the vacuum hoses, but sounds like the IAC or even the o2 sensors. The computer will pick up on the o2 sensors but not the IAC..Go to your local ADVANCE store and they will check on computer for free :)

Hyundai Accent losing power when hot

sometimes loss of power can be caused by a clogged catalytic converter which can make the car at times hesitate, and about the trasmission maybe the governor on it might be faulty what that does it changes the gears when it reaches certain speed
