My check engine light comes on. The code ia 1402 and 1403,beforee when i entered theis problem it daid check the fuel cannister and mtl motor at the rear of the vechille. Both were broken and the module or motor which ever its called was rusted into. I replaced both and cleared the code but as soon as i ran it the light came on and the codes were back.

    P1402
    DMTL Motor Circuit

    P1403
DMTL Valve CircuitThis is what the code error stands for. I too have a 2001 hyundai accent and have the same problem. After 3 years of running one day after changing the fuel pump check engine light came on. never left me from that day. Finally a good knowladgebel mechanic said that it is due to purge control valve unwanted opening. He found that the line is leaking. to get rid of the problem I have to allow him to dismental the fuel tank and repair the unwanted opening. Still did not do it.Once I do it and the check bulb goes off I'll let you know. My email is samana@ewisl.net

i just replaced the timing belt, and asked the garage to look at the transmission for me because i thought i was experiencing some subtle shifting problems. they told me the transmission looked fine, but i needed a new filter and fluid. the engine light didnt turn on til a couple weeks later tho. does this sound like a new filter and fluid would fix this problem?

SOURCE: 2001 hyundai xg300 3.0 liter no throttle response,

Check the fuel filter to see if it is restricted, and if it is not have the fuel pump pressure checked, this is the most likely cause of your problem.

Purge Control Valve Problem

The "Purge Control Solenoid Valve" is the "Purge Control Valve".

Rough idle is a typical symptom of something amiss with the purge control portion of the evaporative emissions system. It could be the valve itself is not operating correctly, the evap canister (vapor canister) may be leaking, or full of raw gas instead of vapor, or maybe even the purge control valve is getting a faulty signal from the ECU.

The soleniod is checked by applying a voltage to it and checking to see if it closes, or opens (I'm not sure if its un-energized state is normally open, or normally closed). If the valve is bad it is a no-brainer to replace.

The vapor canister can be removed and checked to see if it is full of raw gas (not supposed to be), but checking it for leaks is a bit involved, and probably requires equipmet not normally owned by a home mechanic. Vapor canister failure on cars with a lot of miles is common. Replacement is the fix.

Of course if the ECU is not sending a purge signal to the valve correctly, figuring out why may proove difficult, and possibilities could even include a faulty ECU. I expect this is unlikely though.

It's a $20 part. I first would change pcv valve because it can give same error if it's plugged up. You can always remove it and shake it. It should rattle around real easy. If not, it should be repalced

SOURCE: check engine light on code reads p2096 what

Fuel trim too lean. Usually means vacuum leak. Look for crushed, broken or melted off vacuum hoses near intake manifold. Or an obvious hissing noise at a normal idle. If so replace or repair clear codes your done. If not obvious take carb cleaner spray with nozzle attached car running & go over all vacuum hoses, intake manifold, egr valve see if idle raises if so you found leak. Repair. Could also be bad oxygen sensor switching bad o2 sensor but rarely.

I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent 1.6L. While driving it wil die, there is no spark but all the fuel pressure is fine. After it cools down it starts and drives for about 5-10 miles then dies again.

This sounds to me like an intermittent crankshaft sensor problem. Did your CHECK ENGINE light come on? Crankshaft sensors sometimes flicker this way before they completely die, sometimes they don't. I think you may have a flickerer. Have the code checked at your local Advanced Auto or Auto Zone. The part is only about $30.00. GOOD LUCK.

My 2001 Hyundai Accent 1.5 L, stalls out at stop signs and red lights. No codes are present, and check engine light does not come on, any ideas? Fuel pump?

See if your idle air control valve needs to be cleaned out. This is a common problem in cars that stall out a lot.

2003 hyundai accent 1.6L is slow to fuel up. Then the check engine light comes on. The code reads evaporative emmision control small leak. Apparently this is common with this car.

The vapor tube is plugged with charcoal pellets from the cannister it is connected to. There are 2 clips you simply pinch on to release. Careful when you pull off the hose they will come out quickly. Crawl under the car just behind left rear wheel you will see a black box and on the right side is a small hose that is the vapor tube. I just emptied mine of all the charcoal pellets and it fills properly. I also put a small screen at the end of the hose as it goes into the box to prevent more debris from getting in. Please do not pay big bucks to fix this it is simple to remedy.

Lifter problem in 2001 Hyundai accent GL

The noise you hear could very well be a lifter. But that is not what is causing your engine light to come on. The engine light problem can be diagnosed by having the codes read. You can have this done for free at most national parts chains such as Advance or Auto Zone. Good luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

Occasionally the engine will turn over but not start would you think it is anything to do with the ignition switch and key immobilizing the start up or is it likely to be something else.

2001 Accent did not come with any 'immobilizer' features, other than burglar alarm and starter kill (then the engine would not crank at all). Sounds like you may have a fuel pump/pressure problem. You'll need to connect a fuel pressure gauge to it to see if that's where the problem is. Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? 2001 hyundai accent. hard to start when engine is cold. has new air & fuel filter, and plugs. starts fine when at operating temperature.

Without actually looking/diagnosing your vehicle, the problem could be just about anything (fuel pressure, out of time, vacuum leak, defective sensor (i.e., MAP, MAF, ECT, IAT, CKP, etc.), Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there.
