Question about 2000 Chevrolet Prizm

Heater issue - only works when on highest setting

My heater only works when turned on to the highest setting. Any idea what might be causing this? When the heat comes out, its plenty hot, it just doesn't come out enough to even feel it unless its on the highest setting.

Thank you!!

This is caused by the blower motor speed control resistor being defective, this part is located near the blower motor.

Someone would need to take the blower motor out and examine it.
My guess would be the bearing in the motor is bad, or it has debris in the box around the motor.

I have a 1999 camry. The fan only works on high. On high it works well so it's not a motor issue. I've checked the fuses and they are good. Any thoughts?

It sounds like the resistor block for your heater/AC fan has gone bad. Here's a link to a few I found on line for the 1999 camry to give you an idea of the cost. When the resistor block goes bad the motor defaults to its highest setting.

A local autoparts store like autozone should also carry this part. They will also probably be able to give you some advice about how to install it.

I hope this helps you out.

Heater blower went out?

Either the blower went bad or the heater relay went bad. This does not sound like a heater core problem unless you where smelling a SWEET smell when it was running.
