My ABS and brake light comes on, usually if I hit a bump or something of the sort. If I turn off the van and restart it, then it is off for a while.

This could just be the car running a diagnostic check on itself and because you are turning it off then straight on there is a delay, also another problem could be there is an abs sensor located near the brakes, sometimes dust or break powder can get built up and lodged in and around it causing the sensor to give a false reading to the dash triggering the light.

What is wrong with your vehicle if the abs light is on.

ABS light is the Anti-lock Brakes. the most common cause for the light is wheel speed sensor. These are fairly inexpensive and easy to change, but the only way to know what the error is, is to have the computer scanned by a tool that is able to talk to the ABS module. This will tell you what the issue is, and if it is just a speed will tell you which one.

My ABS light stays on, Can the ABS system cause my rear wheels to heat up? (To hot to touch) 2003 ford explorer.

Remove the ABS fuse to disable the ABS system . The brakes will work as NORMAL brakes and you will now see if the rear brakes heat up. They more than likely will as the ABS would not have any effect on the brakes in normal running situations.
Suggest take the vehicle to a GOOD brake shop and get them to fix the problem

RSC ABS Light on

I would try unplugging the connector to the ABS Module
You will have dash lights on, but can use the truck, the brakes
will work, you just won't have ABS
Then plug it back in
If you still have a MIL lamp
You go to a shop, different one & not a dealer,& ask them to scan for codes in Enhanced Mode & just look at the ABS System Codes/Faults
Then Google the issue, or look at the shops data base, for
the proper way to diagnose.
To say entire system-- is just you not knowing what is going
on, or what your told, need to be more involved & ask
more questions & get people to show you & prove to you,
how they come to any conclusion or fix.
I found the B1342 code is used for different systems,
which is odd, & different vehicles,so be careful your looking
at the correct vehicle, application etc on the internet
At a shop with the scan tool your looking into the vehicles
system & can't get that wrong
Just know that codes do not mean a part failed
Component testing for failure is required
At very least do voltage drops on power & ground
side of any module, using a wiring diagram, before
throwing electronic parts at something & get it wrong

I have a 92 ford explorer and the red brake light cuts on with medium braking and under heavy braking the yellow rabs light cuts on as well any idea whats wrong?

this may sound silly but have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder? They do have a level sensor in there and will cause your symptom, more so under braking or heavy accel, also the e-brake pedal switch can cause this, if the pedal is falling under heavy braking the switch could illuminate the light, then the abs light will come on if vehicle still sees e-brake is on and the is still a speed signal recieved by the abs.

On 2005 ford escape a light on for check brake lamps

Hello, You will need to inspect your brakes to cure this problem. Be aware that the rear brakes have 2 systems in them, a service brake and an Emergency brake.

What happens usually is that debris from a failed brake pad has fallen into the Revolution counter on one of the wheels. This confuses the ABS unit and activates a Warning light. Another possibilty is that you have a Brake fluid leak and need to fix the leak and replace the fluid.

A shop with the proper scanner can hook up to your vehicles' ABS system and it will reveal which wheel is causing the alert. The remaining way without a Scanner is to pull off the wheels and manually look at the Brake hardware behind each wheel.

The warning lights are usually accurate and this is not a repair to delay.

ABS light on RV comes on at will.

An intermittent ABS light problem can be as simple as cleaning the harness connector where it attaches to the sensor. I recommend having them inspected cleaned and a light coating of grease applied before reattaching. Depending on where you are located the shop prices can range from as little as $100 up to $300 for this service. Your mechanic is right there probably is nothing wrong with your brakes. If the light comes on and stays on, then I would certainly have it inspected.

The ABS light stays on all the time, brakes are fine, checked all lights

You may need to make sure that Ford Factory pads have built in sensors on them. In many vehicles these built in sensors will cause the abs and brake lights illuminate when the brake pads wear down to a certain point. Also make sure to check your brake fluid regularly. I used to work for a Infiniti dealer in the service dept. When the brake fluid was low it caused the brake lights to come on as well. Just a few things you can check out yourself before taking it in to the dealer to check for codes.
