Re: 1999 trooper 4JX1 fuel black
Engine oil leaking past injector O rings and going into fuel return hose back to tank contaminates tank. if recall done are O rings ok? can put clear plastic tube on return fitting in rear of head to see if black (contaminated with oil) or air leaks, from cold start, it isnt high pressure
it could be from before or now?

ok what did you check? did you check your battery, and the fuel, what about spark plugs are they firing ,how is the fuel pressure check these things if you could and get back to me i will try my best to help you get it started if you have not already done so
It actually could be a number of things. I need to ask you more questions to narrow my prognosis down. You mentioned the weather being cold, lately. How cold? Freezing? When was your last tune up and do you eventually get the car started after trying for a while? If you do how does it run?
The ODB socket is just under the plastic trim that goes over the gearlever cover by your right foot , no tools needed to get it out .
The 4JX1 is a HUEI type engine so the diesel is not under high pressure until injected .
To prove if the fuel is starved put fuel in a can and pipe it into the hand primer pump direct .
Most likely cause is the Rail Oil Presure Sensor as this controls the amount of fuel injected via the ECU .
If its the diesel engine the fuel is running out the head overnight try parking the car with the back up higher than the front to prove this , then get the valve from the Isuzu dealer that stops this .
